So it turns out we ordered 60 PS4s instead of 30. Whoops. (yeah, completely by accident)

Which means to make some room in the cupboard for the 10 x Oculus Rifts DK2s we ordered for something else, we are going to give away another 30 PS4s in July.

This time however, it won't be a simple daily draw. Instead, we'll be running some competitions throughout July across various different social media places (Facebook, Twitter, Geekzone, Snapchat.)

Some will be for Bigpipe customers only, and some will be open to all NZers, even if you aren't a Bigpipe customer.

so follow us on Twitter (@BigpipeNZ), like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BigPipeNZ)  and follow us on Snapchat (search: bigpipenz), and keep an eye on our forum here on Geekzone so you get notifications about how to win.

Good luck everyone!

haha,  no, I wish.

I just think spending on stuff like this is much better than spending money on stuff just for new customers and ignoring your existing customers.

(plus buying so many meant that Sony gave us a free PS4 for the office, so there is that...)

They seem to be spending a lot of money but it's all good marketing. Speaking of spending big maybe Bigpipe could pick up where Telecom left off with the Geekzone Modem development project.

EDIT: Fixed a word

well, seeing as don't sell modems at all that might be pretty difficult  :D

(And 30 Playstations is not a lot of money compared to what the other guys spend on things like TV ads, which we don't do at all)

It was just an idea, you say your an ISP for more of the techy people so if you were to sell a modem then the one that Telecom were making would be a good one to sell. I really just don't want the project to die and never be revived.

yeah it was pretty sad to see it die watching from the sidelines,  but to be honest, we just don't have the same scale as Telecom to be able to order custom built, feature rich modems and sell them for a better price than you could just buy them from, say, PBtech anyway.

From my experience, most techy people prefer to pick their own set of features, and buy the modem that's right for them.

Some people want some features, some people want others.  Building a modem that satisfies the requirements in that thread means putting in loads of features that not everybody wants, which means a higher cost.  That's pretty much the opposite of the Bigpipe ethos,  where we just provide the broadband connection, and nothing else, giving you the freedom to customise your own setup.

Now the true reason comes out. tongue-out

I think you need a few more PS4s for your office and you should keep giving them away until I win one.
