I recently got Spark's Fibre internet installed and got given their Huawei HG630B Gateway modem. Ever since then I have no longer been able to stream most videos online (from websites such as vodlocker etc). They all give me an error saying 'file not found' on every computer in my house. However, when I give the links to anyone else not using a Spark ISP to check or I load it tethering from the Vodafone internet on my phone, the video loads just fine and we can watch it.

I really have no idea what can be causing this. Could it be related to the modem (such as a setting I'm not aware of?) or Spark? This is all I can think of considering it works when I try using another internet provider. However, if I try using a VPN it still doesn't work so I don't think it's an IP address issue. My flash player is up to date (if that is even related). I really can't find anywhere mentioning this problem online (the few people who do, never seem to have found a resolution), so I have no idea where to begin when it comes to troubleshooting this...

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I just figured it most likely would be a Spark issue, as it works when I try other ISP's... Or could it be a modem issue? Any ideas? Thank you :)

Not entirely sure what the issue is but thought I'd offer up my results. I got Spark Fibre installed yesterday and am using the same supplied router. I'd not heard of vodlocker before but just went there and was able to play videos just fine on my iPad.

Are your computers all getting their DNS settings automatically from the new router or are there settings in there that have been manually entered? Is it just videos that don't play since your fibre install or are there other browsing issues too? Tried clearing out your browser cache etc?

Hmm, I just tried using some other proxies and they work, so it must be my IP address on all computers being blocked on multiple sites. Any idea why this is?

As mentioned in the first reply above, are your DNS settings on your computer(s) correct? If your computers are set to DHCP the DNS should also be set to auto for DNS.

It's just a video streaming issue. I have DHCP enabled and the DNS settings are on auto.

Try changing the DNS , enter some manually on the PC. Try googles (8.8.8.8), opendns . I doubt thats the issuse.
Perhaps Spark are using some proxy/ cache and thats screwing things up.

edit : disable any proxies in your PC/router setup

I tried changing it to Google's after checking it was on auto last night and still no luck.

And when I use a proxy it seems that about 1/2 the streaming sites become accessible, but the other half still don't work.

So I just tested it at my workplace who also have Spark fibre out of curiosity, and I have the same problem with video streams all giving an error saying they are not found. But if I test it using a different ISP they load.

Last night at work we had a horrible connection - certain websites wouldn't load; SkyTV for example wouldn't load but funny enough it would load on my smartphone (which is also on Spark). Everything seems to be going ok at home though - what streaming sites are you viewing? are they located in the United States or somewhere else?

The main ones that aren't working are vodlocker/vidbull (I think they might technically be the same site). I'm not sure if they are US sites? Even if I just click a random video on their homepage they all say 'file not found'. Other streaming sites I have got working using a VPN now, but if I turn it off they say file not found too, but for some reason vodlocker/vidbull still won't work when I use it. It's just super frustrating not being able to work out exactly what this problem is. I've tried changing my DNS multiple times now and still no luck ugh.

Experiencing this issue as well -- it was gone for quite a while after the last Netflix/Geoblocking DNS saga when Spark said any IPs they detected using Unotelly (or others) would not go through their caching servers.

Appears that may have changed today/tonight. :(

My IP changed, set it up in Unotelly again, cleared dns cache from ipconfig (admin console) and within browser - but same issues afterward with video streams (which load fine on other conns, even certain other Spark IP ranges) stating they cannot be found. :(

I was on the verge of finally changing ISPs when this was last fixed (albeit inadvertently) during the Netflix issues, don't want to have to go down that road again!

---

Edit: Checked Lagado's cache test again as linked earlier in thread - confirmed Proxy on this IP again. Same serial number - 46 hour page age. :(

Example of Errors:
Video not found: http://vs027.vshare.eu:182/d/mmebbmzu7hnroluvywcqko7rlrchy2uzp5gtwkyhoxhuy5hkqshkdcrp/vid.mp4

Video not found: http://50.7.161.34:182/d/7nsg42scljrwuximzi7xh7yux4tjnllkkb6hlfamga55wlofbt4ic5tw/video.mp4

Certain other sites will simply stream a 1 minute clip of 'Wrong IP!' text on screen instead. Presumably due to assymetrical connection detected due to the proxy.

Take care,

This is exactly the type of error I am getting too. I also just tried Lagado's tests and it seems I do have a caching proxy somehow... any idea how to disable this?

Interesting, I haven't been experiencing those issues AllMyV, VSpot, Played, TheVid, Vidto, Vidbul or VodLR. Maybe it is something to do with their end - I've some times tripped over situations where a file cannot be found but the mirrors have always worked.

gorillavid.in is my best bet for a stream to work when these issues are around - the others are fairly consistent in their refusal to load beyond an error for the most part. When my traffic was not being passed through the proxy, essentially any would work provided hadn't actually been removed etc. For the ones tonight I've tested since issue came back, exact same links will work if I source the net via mobile wifi tether (which is also currently with Spark) and also work for a few friends on other ISPs, but not whilst on this proxied IP.

Take care,

I contacted Spark about it today and they have opened a case for it, so I will see if anything comes from it.

For what it's worth - my issues seemed to be gone again the following day, but I would suspect that is down to the Unotelly solution implemented earlier in the year being fixed again, possibly updated the new IP to sit in that pool as well or somesuch.

Take care,
