As the topic mentions im having an annoying problem with my VDSL line last Saturday (21st Feb) night around 11.30pm my VDSL line started to lose sync every 5-10 minutes a fault was logged with spark and chorus was sent out "twice now" and its still not fixed, the first visit they replaced the master filter and fixed an "earthing issue" in the pillar outside my house.

on the second visit they changed the line card im connected too ? not sure why but they did that the problem still continues.

now the more recent issue is that every time the phone calls out or in the VDSL sync is lost and anytime you pick up the phone you can hear slight crackling; i told the chorus tech this on the second visit they claim the "line is fine"

i've had VDSL for around 16 months and its been perfect untill now, i am seeking some advice on possible reasons for this issue and possible fixes chorus should be doing to fix this issue.

Thanks

I have been having VDSL problems since late last week too. Nobody's totally sure yet but, after lengthy discussions on the phone with Spark on Saturday, they think it's the wireless section of the (supplied Thomson) modem/router. They're couriering me a new (Huawei) modem/router from Auckland to try... Note to self: buy a decent one.

Another possibilty, the 2 wires that make up your VDSL line pair are shorting together. I had a similar problem with my ADSL connection in the BC (before chorus) days. The repairmen were checking between the line pairs and earth. But because there wasn't a fault to earth, they wouldn't be able to find anything wrong. It took at least 5 visits until the problem was finally discovered. And a new underground line was installed between my house and the street. It was worth it in the end as I got 11mbit sync despite being a good 2kM away from the exchange. And no cabinets back then either.
