Hello,

We have just had Spark UFB 30/10 Naked installed to our home and are experiencing issues with many of our main usage pages not loading or being very very laggy. Our set up pre UFB was Slingshot Naked with voip which was great and no issues with page loads or laggey pages.

Currently looking for answers or suggestive ideas to fix this? Modem is the spark hg630B unit.

Speedtests on UFB are fine but real world with the site we use we wish we had slingshot back..

cheers hope someone has some ideas on this :)

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

Connecting over wireless or wired? Also, if you can supply the information PeterReader is asking for, it will save a lot of time :)

what DNS server are you using? try manually changing the DNS server on the device to something like google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and see if that makes a difference. dry a few different devices if you can

also try testing with one of the effected computer via an Ethernet cable and see if still does it, this will help rule out the wifi as the issue. again try a few devices if you can.

you need to do as much testing in different configurations as you can to try and work out where the issue lies

Had a client yesterday with the same issue - it was the wireless, the router was surrounded by all sorts of stuff on a desk - mounted the router up higher - problem solved.

Maybe try a different freq or move the router until you get a better signal.

what was the dns settings on the computer before you changed them?

try manually setting sparks ones (its best to use the ISP's ones)
http://help.spark.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/1274/~/what-are-sparks-dns-servers%3F

test again, you reassy should work out whats wrong instead of using a band-aid

i dont have any issues with sparks ones

I don't know who's DNS it was but have changed the computers DNS to the Spark ones. Router already had the Spark DNS installed.

Also have reset the router.

Overseas sites now load quick and NZ Forex graphs load.

router was showing some wireless errors so will also test again and will also test hardwired connect via network cable.

thank you for the help

funny what you forget in this plug and play world :)
