On fibre 30/10 speed unlimited data, hard wired, no other devices connected. Using a TP-Link TD W8960N.

So around last night some pages started to load slow, I.E Reddit, Amazon, GPForums. I couldn't even load the speedtest page. This morning some pages seemed back to normal and could run speed test and they all seemed to be normal. However some websites are still taking a while to load. Painfully slow in some cases GPForums taking upwards of 30 seconds.

Contacted Spark on twitter and noticed four other people had tweeted with similar problems too. They had me change my MTU from 1500 to 1492, made no noticeable change. No reply back since 2pm. I tried changing DNS from Sparks to Google's but again no change.

Just now I'm downloading a file around 400 KB/s and try loading any pages and its painfully slow. Stopping the download and trying to access Reddit now and it won't even load.

Ugh so annoying. Can I please get some help on trying to figure out why this is happening.

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

I'm having similar problems, first noticed 5.30am Friday 27...still pathetic as I type this. I use a couple of downloading serices and lockers. Today one was very erratic while the other was fine. Trying to updates apps in iTunes it was running at 11kB/s normally about 4-5 MB/s. Web pages don't seem too bad. Perhaps a problem with some international paths(not sure the correct term to use).

@Jackfry, as per our PMs, the configuration at our end of the link looks ok.  We have been making some tweaks to some UFB services recently - a slight tweak was made on the 17th to your connection.  That should have been invisible to you - and the times don't match when your issue started, so do not imagine that this is to blame.  According to my records, the second round of tweaks have not been applied to your connection yet.  So I am fully confident at this point in time that the issue you are experiencing is unrelated to this.

But keen to hear from others on UFB if they are having any speed issues.

I've had issues with speed on Spark the last day or two. Unlike the original poster, I am on VDSL. At times pages load really slowly, other times they won't load at all. A minute later everything is normal.

Last 24Hrs or so have been rather erratic for us too. Spark VDSL Auckland. ASUS RT-AC68U bridged to an NF4V (modem only config)

Was going to see what it was like in the morning before lodging with support.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Im getting the same issues here, west coast of south island, general web browsing is stupidly slow, most of the time i have to reload pages at least twice and even then there is still issues, I'm on vdsl with a 30/10mbit speedtest to voda auk. Ive tried both my asus dal-n66u modem and the telecom tg589vn-v2, both give me the same issues but if i use a vpn things are great!

Ive been using my parents internet which is with kinect with speeds around 5/1mbit to voda auk, browsing the web on that connection is at least 4 to 5 times faster than mine.

The problems i have now have started over about the last week.

We've not made any changes to VDSL at all.  Would suggest those with VDSL issues to give us a call and log a fault.
Anyone with speed issues, do you get the same issue with HTTPS vs HTTP?

I've been having these exact same problems too.  Reddit takes ages to load as do many other overseas sites but places like youtube are fine.  I spend 30 minutes online with the help desk and my adsl2+ connection is fine (after doing countless pings and tracert's) and was pretty much told it was beyond Spark's network and if it continued then I should call again.

Interesting.  I've noticed the same thing in the last few days.

The first thing I noticed this with was doing an update for WoW using Curse Client - sits at about 11kb/s and times out.

I'm in Auckland on VDSL with roughly 39/9 when doing speedtests. Using a Cisco 887VA router.
Speadtests are fine, most downloading is fine but browsing seems randomly slow.
It's nothing I can't work around but I noticed it enough that I ended up here, seeing if anyone else had similar trouble.

I checked with my cousin who has asdl2+ and she said her problems started last night (26th) and has been crap all day so it seems it's a problem for adsl and vdsl.
