They advertise Faxability on Fibre Landline, yes I also get the distinctive ring.
On the phone to Spark for around 8 hours over the last 3 weeks /on hold/ to find out it's not compatible after I made this post.
Back to Copper landline I go!!

Faxibility is just the Marketing name for Distinctive Ringing.

I'm a little confused clayton.. you say you get Distictive Ringing but not Faxability?

Yes, when a fax comes in the Distinctive ring sounds and the fax machine doesn't pick up the fax, after a failed attempt my landline voicemail kicks in

All that DR (Faxability) does is play a different type of ring pattern on the Line and the Fax should pick this up and Answer (If it can detect it)

DA1 = Normal Ringing
DA4 = "Faxability"

DA2 and DA3 are also available if Supported in the Specs.

Maybe Spark are sending the wrong DA (Ring Pattern) for the 2nd number so the Fax doesn't know  it should be answered.

I've seem on quite a lot of faxes you can choose the Ring Pattern it will answer on. What brand of Fax Machine Do you have?

Brother MFC-9450CDN
It's set to Manual and Faxability set to on
I know that DR is letting me know that a fax is coming through

What does the 2nd ring sound like? (Taken from a Previous sbiddle post) - If you can tell.. Can you take a recording of the Normal Ringing and the other ring when a Fax comes in?

DA 1 (normal ringing cadence):  400 ms on, 200 ms off, 400 ms on, 2000 ms off,  and repeated.
DA 2 : 400 ms on, 2600 ms off, and repeated.
DA 3 : 400 ms on, 200 ms off,  400 ms on, 200 ms off, 400 ms on, 1400 ms off, and repeated.
DA 4 : 400 ms on, 800 ms off, 400 ms on, 1400 ms off, and repeated.

Can you choose the Ring Pattern after you turn Faxability on? (I've just checked on my MFC J4510DW- Different Model and you cannot on NZ Ones )

Personally I have not played with the ATA part of the ONTS but reading the Documentation I've found it "should work" but maybe it was not 100% tested. I presume it worked 100% on the normal POTS Line.. (OR Spark is sending the wring DA for the other number)

Do Spark have a fax to email service? That would solve the problem.

I haven't actually received a fax yet, but when I first got the service installed I rang my fax number from my mobile the fax machine did pick up that distinctive ring as a fax. I have Brother MFC 730 model. Settings are manual/faxability ON

I have recorded some ringtones, how do I upload them?
It worked perfectly on POTS, I can't find a setting for ring pattern.
I have had the copper line from the street disconnected if that's any help.

So Faxability is compatible with Fibre Landline services then?

Faxability is merely distinctive ring using the 4th ring pattern. This is fully supported by the Chorus ONT.

While this isn't something I've played with extensively I'd suggest you first need to determine the correct ring is occurring for Distinctive Ring. If it is it's probably your machine not correctly recognising it.

Yes, in terms of someone ringing my fax#, my fax machine did recognise the distinctive ring and answer the call. I was previously on Fixed line with faxability. I switched to naked for a few months and when they launched Fibre Landline I had my previous number and fax number reinstated.
