I have a Technicolor TG589vn v2 which was provided by Spark when my VDSL connection was set up. Everything seems to work fine on the wired LAN, but using a Windows 7 laptop on wireless I am getting disconnected at exactly hourly intervals.

The disconnections seem to occur at the same time past-the-hour as the end of the DHCP lease, but the lease lasts 24 hours and the disconnections are every hour.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Any ideas how I might fix it?

Update wireless drivers and see what happens. Group key renewal interval on routers is often at 3600 seconds so if you can see that on the router, try dropping it to 1800 and see if it makes it every half hour. If it does then see if newer wireless drivers list that as something that they fix.

Unfortunately I can't see a "group key renewal" setting.

Regarding drivers, the router seems to be using the latest firmware. Also, from here:

"The Spark Technicolor TG-series gateways cannot be updated by the end user. Spark will push updates to the modem when required."

Not for the router, for the wireless card in the windows 7 machine.

do any other devices disconnect? thats the easiest way to rule out the router or the device as the issue

if you can narrow down where the issue is it might make it easier to fix

This problem now seems to be solved.

It was being caused by the router's "Automatic Channel Selection" feature. Setting "Channel Selection" to "Manual" (and disabling "Power Reduction") has stopped the disconnections.

Thanks for your help.
