Was phoned by spark earlier, as I am with spark for mobile, but on 2degrees 100/50 UFB with IP phone. 

They go through the long spiel and eventually ask me to move UFB/phone to them.

They say can give package discount if i move to spark 100/, I say i need faster upload speeds so they go away and come back with an offer for  200/20 UFB... I point out that this is the same upload speed and they say that is all they can offer (nicely) and hang up. 

I guess this wasn't in their script. 

Although, I thought Spark do 200/200 , but she didn't offer that.

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin



- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service



- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above



Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.



A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Spark do 100/100 and 200/200 business plan.  But being business plans they are more expensive that residential.

On a similarly related script stumping note..

I've had a VF cell number for.. nearly 2 decades now. Pay monthly and usually never need support etc. But had to ring about changing my CC number recently. BAM, cold called some days later from the sales team trying to push other services on me.

When I was told how cheap their unlimited VDSL was, she was a little stumped by my saying we are in a fibre only subdivision and had no copper to run it on.

Some more pauses, and off she went again about how much faster VDSL was.. (and cheap if I bundle it) Kinda didn't know what 'Not much good to me, I'm on fibre.. you know. UFB. And a fibre only subdivision with limited providers and a 2yr contract' meant.

Needles to say, they were going to re-check my status in a few months to see if I could be persuaded then heh

You certainly can get business plans on residential accounts.  You just can't do the reverse.

Good to know, thanks :) I thought that was the case, but was recently told on the online chat that it wasn't possible for me to get the 100/100 or 200/200 plans on my residential account. It seems very difficult to maintain the upstream speed, coming from the earlier 100/50 plan to the newer plans :( Will enquire again about it, thank you!
