Had this modem on a new for a couple weeks since getting fiber installed with Spark, and seem to be having all sorts of different issues. Most of the time it runs absolutely fine, with good speeds and coverage all around, zero complaints until:
Complete lock up - when this occurs, no one can get any internet at all. The lights on the unit are solid on instead of blinking during normal operation. Other lights appear OK and traffic can pass internally (i.e I can ping PC to PC). However, trying to load the web interface or get any form of internet traffic at all, nothing happens. The logon at http://192.168.1.254/ doesn't load and just times out, no internet / pings / DNS / traceroute or anything works. This has occurred about 3 times and a re-power of the router fixes this.
At other times, LAN connected devices seem absolutely fine. They can access internet and everything with no issues at all. Yet wireless connected devices stop getting to the internet. They can talk to other internal devices - for example chromecast direct connection to a local plex server works. But no Wi-Fi connected device can access the internet full stop. During this time, I can logon to the admin page and check things - everything looks 100% normal and yet the issue persists. Again a reboot somehow fixes this.
I do notice in the logs there's some DNS failures such as: "DNS query failed: Name: play.google.com.home, Type: 1, Error: no such name" so it seems to be sometimes appending .home as a DNS suffix to things it shouldn't. I'm not sure if this tied to the issues above or incidental to them.
No settings have been changed out of the box asside from renaming the SSID and setting the Wi-Fi password. Any ideas? I'm getting a bit sick of this as every other day there's an issue with it. Don't want to have to spring the cash to buy a replacement router that's actually stable.
