Wondering if anyone has managed to get this working properly?

My Spark Hg659b is giving 900mbps+ speeds however when I connect the Orbi directly to the Chorus ONT with VLAN tagging on i’m only ever able to hit high 600Mbps speeds

Interestingly it seems this issue has been seen with Netgear kit before

No idea what this MAC Wan filtering is that the poster is talking about but could this be an issue?

PS I can run the Orbi in AP mode only but a lot of the additional features like parental control etc don’t work in that mode, hence trying to get it working as a pure router

PPS bridging the Spark router doesn’t help either

I wouldn't be surprised if that's all they can handle. Have you got confirmation from someone that they can actually route 1Gbps with PPPoE?

That linked thread seems to indicate that the other Netgear router with same behaviour eventually could once the ISP issue went away

I don’t really understand the technicalities of PPPoE vs a DCHP connection but it seems like the Orbi (which is a modern router) would be able to manage 1Gbps fibre connections?

If the HG659 can do gigabit, then there mustn't be an issue at the ISP end.

I think the behaviour of hardware offloading can differ between IPoE (DHCP) and PPPoE on some devices, meaning they could get better speeds on one than the other?

600mbps seems like too much for there to be no hardware offloading working though. For example a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite with no hardware offloading will only get between 100 and 200mbps, but can route gigabit both ways with offloading on.

I have an Orbi setup with 2degree's on a gig plan and am seeing pretty decent speeds? ~ 903 Mbps. To clarify - my Orbi connects directly via PPPoE and is VLAN10 tagged (which is obviously required).
I use an Orbi Router with 4 satellites around the house with ethernet backhaul on the latest firmware and it rocks!

There’s a beta floating around but I haven’t mananged to get it . So I’m on the current release version

@jiriteach it looks like your seeing similar speeds to me when Orbi is a router. None of your graphs are above 900?

i wouldnt trust the graphs from samknows? they seem to be under reading , post an ockla speedtest from the windows 10 app

No nothing.

Also note post above is Sam knows which isn't quite indicative of peak rate on gbit yet.

I'd look at your settings.
