Can someone please advise, Is it not possible to reply or send a MMS message if you are on a monthly Prepay Plan.

I get MMS messages from people and want to reply to message and it always fails. I am guessing it is because of the MMS pix and I do not want to send a MMS back just reply. I am using Signal but not sure if that would affect the problem. I am forced to start a new SMS message to reply which is a pain

Thanks

Do you have extra money on the account?
I have found most plans have unlimited sms included but you have to pay extra for mms and need a cash pile they can draw from

I think you have the answer, stupidly I never thought about paying for the MMS, and of course with prepay there is no pool of money for the MMS fee to be deducted from. (an aside why do we have to pay for MMS, one would think they would just adjust their fees to include the odd MMS)

I realise that I can pay extra to cover the MMS but it would get wasted as I would have little use of MMS if I wanted to send pix I would email them.

My original problem was that when the odd person sends me an MMS I would hit reply and the reply would fail. Presumably because the reply

is still re-sending the picture.

Thanks for help

FYI it isn't resending the picture, but when you hit reply it will reply over the same medium the message arrived over.

If both parties are using Signal, then there's no limit to the messages you can exchange - so long as you both have data allowance. Individual photos or entire galleries, videos, documents, audio files, animated gifs, whatever you want to send just do it using Signal. Of course if the other party doesn't have Signal installed then you both revert back to the primitive POTS applications. That's when you send them a Signal invite & enlighten them to the capabilities of a modern messaging system. Remember, friends don't let friends use plain old text services.
