Looks like telecom is going to launch a new network T-day. Wonder if its going to be competitive and affordable.

Its not mentioned if we can keep vodafone number.

{MOD EDIT : SP : Updated thread title to reflect the direction it is taking}

This has been discussed a lot in the Telecom forum. You can keep your Vodafone number if you port it to Telecom.

Unofficial tidbit from a person I know in the biz... The T-day date is being brought forward to May, will be announced in about 35 minutes on the 6pm news.

I may have been given dud info... and of course it could be an ad in that timeslot... :) Apparently the network is all go, and that certain customers are already on it. Just not open to the masses yet.

Ad featuring Richard Hammond just aired on TV3 for testdrive.co.nz - site is hammered though.

Yeah, I called one of my old workmates who mentioned that it's "not Telecom though", and "they've removed all the branding", but he confirmed that's it. he also confirmed that it's coming in May, not June.

I just saw the ad on TV1, got excited thinking maybe NZ Communications was launching. Then I changed my mind when I realised they probably couldn't afford Hammond.

Looked at the HTML source for the testdrive.co.nz page and saw this:

var attributes = {
id:"TelecomXT"
};
if (contentType == "flash") {
swfobject.embedSWF("bin/TelecomXT.swf?cacheBuster="+(Math.random()*1000), "altContent", "100%", "530", "9.0.115", "expressInstall.swf", flashvars, params, attributes);

Interesting the lack of Telecom branding.

Just look at the source for that page and it has Telecom in some places.
