HOWDY.

i dont know if im asking this in the wrong area so ill just go ahead and wing it.

1.) Telecom's new XT network launches on the 13th, so what does the launch mean?

e.g. will i be able to purchase a sim card from a telecom store and whip it into a wcdma 850 phone on this date?

(i heard something about this date being only for data)

2.) if so will there be prepaid plans on this network? and if so will it be from 13th or later on as the network is up to scratch?

Sorry if those questions may have been answered previously, or there are no details to launch day.

Thanks

@eleventy

1. Launch means from 6:30pm on Wednesday 13 May you can purchase a connection (SIM) from a Telecom store

2. Both prepaid and postpaid connections will be available from 13 May.

Will stores be open later than normal?

yes it was, the best type of answer.
it will be interesting to see if telecom offer the likes of 2000 027 text on the new network.
as there would be allot of blatantly poor students out there like me that love the 2000 text.

i hope so. if the networks running as of that time, i wouldn't see why not, maybe just the new outfitted stores.

I hope the stores here in Wellington are open. or I can order a 'On Account' SIM card online.

Do you folks think they'll release plan information before the day?

Lol, same. VF is ripping me off on my 'on account' plan.

The way I see it, the new network should be able to handle more load, and I can imagine that they will bring out better plans to attract more people.

What I want from this new XT network is a 3G Enabled Netbook deal, like Vodafone is doing right now.

hopefully theres no stupid problems between telecom networks.
like example below

e.g my friend "cubie" (has a cubed face) texts me from telecom cdma 2000 text plan, and im on XT.
i hope telecom dont come out and say that its a different network and 2000 cdma is only to another phone on the cdma network.

I relize that sounds weird but there not much other ways of wording it.

Does anyone know what stores in Central Auckland will be open late to go buy a sim from and port a number to?

I'm not waiting a day longer than required to get off the creaking network I'm on :)

in all commonsense, YES it should be telecom to telecom so you'd think it would be fine. but if you have worked for telecom you will know that they are capable of doing some very very strange things!

There won't be any issues. That's not the way it works. And they've been testing this for months.
