Hi all,

need some help please trying to get this new laptop working on the XT network.

basically HP are useless and so is Telecom in trying to help (and i'm a corpate customer too!)...

I have a HP Mini 311-1110TU bought a week ago for the fact it works on the XT network!!!! However the APN details are incorrect and connection manager doesnt work.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have already updated the drivers, and HP connection manager (ruinning the latest version).

Would be much appreciated if anyone out there has managed to get this working on XT.

Thanks Guy

Where was the computer purchased?

You aired your personal view in public so you should expect a comment

Which you will get nonetheless. Being nice is a requisite here. This is not your help desk. This is other people who like helping giving you a hand.

Back to the APN, it should be using "internet.telecom.co.nz". What you have there?

the device is presenting a "Mobile Broadband Device: Disconnected" box (pops up like a MSN messenger box in right hand corner).

PC was purchased a week ago (sat) at JBHiFi in Albany.

APN is set to: internet.telecom.co.nz (i have set this myself) however the default one set by HP in their connection manager is internet.telecom.nz.co

Device worked fine with Vodafone when i tried earlier today, however TCNZ still aint a go :-(

When i check the IMEI on the XT website it says it should work fine :-)

Hope this helps.

G

Are you using a prepay connection or plan? If you have a prepay connection you must have a minimum balance to connect.

Have you tried this Telecom SIM card on another device to check Internet works fine? You can test on a USB modem, or a handset.

You are right, you have to manually enter the APN because the HP one is wrong.

Sim was pulled from a workin T-Stick. It is on contract with Telecom Corporate / Gen-I. I have tried another Telecom sim on the same account and that still doesnt work either.

At this point is when frustration boiled over... :-) working perfectly fine on Vodafone (literally pluged and played).

So here i am now :)

Do you see any signal icon when inserting the Telecom SIM - as in does it show network coverage and fail to connect, or doesn't show network coverage at all?

John, he already said he manually changed that. All HP laptops come with the wrong configuration.

yip there is signal 4/5 bars. Also in the HP connection manager it says the connection status as "idle"and is communicationg somewhere / at some level with the network, just not connecting to the data part.

I'd double check the configuration then... Make sure the software is not using the wrong APN again. Mke sure you don't have a connection created for the Vodafone SIM selected instead.

Otherwise if this is a business connection contact Telecom business again for help. If you have no luck there let me know and will try to get someone from them to check your account.

Info here

I have also changed some of the files in the connection manager so that you can use VF or XT sim's without having to change the connection manager settings

Hope that helps you
