what do you consider slow speeds? What are your line stats? Have you done any isolation tests?

Yea i have over  the last coupe of days thought it might just have been a something small but now websites aren't displaying properly and taking ages.
in Wanaka

Edit: Speeds are usually 4-4.5Mbits download / 0.6-0.7Mbits upload
ATM: 0.8Mbits Download / 0.3Mbits Upload

You're not using a funky DNS provider are you (OpenDNS/Google etc)

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

oh sorry man, i dunno. i tried different computers and resetting my router. i guess i isolated the problem to the telecom network. all good now anyway. slow speeds would be 1mbps but that's fine for browsing(excepting youtube) and online gaming just coupled with the high latency makes both a headache.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I think I'm experiencing the same problem at the moment. Speed at or less than 1 Mbps and high fluctuating latency. Like you said, fine for browsing and email but problematic for gaming and youtube. I guess I should wait it out as well, unless anyone else has a better idea?

They started forcing my connection to be routed through a local proxy/cache server, hence the crap speeds.

Check here if you're in the same boat:
http://ipchicken.com/

I'm on Big Time and it shows a 210.55.215.*** IP with cache-4-2.telecom.co.nz as the name address, rather than the usual 125.*

How do I know whether my connection is being routed? I'm not getting cache-4-2.telecom.co.nz if that helps.

You would most likely have an IP address starting with 210. Might have a different problem to mine :(

This is not the behavior we want from the cache farm, you should not have your IP hidden behind a cache.
Can you please PM me the IP you had and details of any sites that you are finding slow or broken?
Please be as specific as you can with the sites so I can investigate this properly.

Have you raised a case at all with the Broadband Helpdesk?

Regards

Paul

I just went to http://ipchicken.com/
And it said I was also on the cache farm the first time I went there.
But when I did a CTRL refresh it came up with my right IP that I am connected on.

I Have also noticed slowness tonight and I'm not on Big time, I'm on explorer..
