I have Telecom BB Adventurer with Total Home Plan, $120 or something for 20GB and have been very happy with the speed, reliability and service.

Today some guy from Telecom knocks on my door to offer me a doubling of data for 12 months to 40GB for no cost.  There seems to be no catch...so I signed.  Definitely no change to contract.

Seems great.  Is there a catch anyone knows of?

There must be a catch. Nothing is "free". He probably didn't say or was quiet on this, but are you sure you didn't sign up for another 12 month term contract?

If you signed up an agreement based on what he said to you, and he said there wasn't a term contract involved, then read the documentation again. If there's something there about a term contract and you don't want it, there's a seven day cool down period for purchases/contracts signed with door knockers.

Just signed up for the same offer after a guy knocked at the door (Takapuna, Auckland).

We're on a Total Home package with 40GB a month, now we have 80GB a month for the same cost for the next 12 months, then it will drop back to 40GB again.

There is no contract involved. I asked and was told no, it's even written on the agreement he gave me that it is not a contract, just a freebie to say thanks for being with them.

Even if it were a contract I would have signed anyway, have been with them for over a year and have been impressed with their service.

80GB + Apple TV + US iTunes account = good times for the next 12 months!

This is really going to make some of the people in the other thread mad. Now, even random door knocked people are valued more than them!

Did they ask you if you were with Telecom? I wonder what would've happened if you weren't? Probably ask you to sign up and offer you the same deal. Or they have a list of Telecom customers in your street, I suppose.

No it was for current Telecom customers only. He had a list of people in the street who are with Telecom and said he was only visiting those people.

Me too - it says 'No contract' on my form.  I have to say I too have been impressed by their service.

Thats great, but surely people who have heard of this, should be able to contact telecom to get the deal too. It is treating some customers in a more special way than others, for no particular reason.
