I really wish that I'd been awake enough to answer this call this morning.

Where do you think it came from? I thought that Telecom had phased out 025 numbers years ago?

Calling back the number is futile: dit-dit-dit-dit    dit-dit-dit-dit

Wow, that is kind of freaky.

Could be a forged caller-id somewhere along the line (is this even possible in NZ?), after all the entire 025 prefix is protected according to the Number Administration Deed (http://www.nad.org.nz/NonGeographicalCodes.php).

I have just looked into this for you from a Telecom point of view and that number is not currently active on either of our networks.

Do you use it for international customers roaming on your network? I get all sorts of odd CLI details for people roaming when calling us. Most recently was a telecom customer whose number started with 062, eventually figured out they were roaming on the Telecom network.

Probably some overseas telemarketers spoofing caller IDs then

Just as well I didn't answer it. I'm not partial to that sort of thing at 6am.

Thanks for looking into it though

There are no longer any 025 numbers in circulation. Could possibly be an international number where the CLI has been jumbled by a middle operator (can happen).

I think your probably right. What they tend to do is trawl the internet for NZ "phone lists" and then spoof the number. Seems they need to update there "list" Wink

It might have been a call from Tron? ;-)

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Ouch! Hamiltonians (is that what they call themselves?) have feelings too!

It may have originated from Hamilton but I more meant it could have been from this tron: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tron:_Legacy

It's not even an original 025 number. Your one has 8 digits and the old AMPs network was 6 and 7 digits..

And it would be +64 25......   Not 025.
