As I understand the iphone4 does not support dual IMSI and this is required for many telecom roaming destinations

Any chance they can get a micro SIM sleeve and try the SIM in another handset?

Was in Shanghai last month, and iPhone4 + current ios + XT worked fine (SMS/Data/Voice). I was also on sponsored IMSI. Was on both China Unicom & China Mobile.

My comments and remarks are not necessarily of my employer.

Thanks, thought it a bit srtange that an iphone4 on xt wouldnt roam to china, must be a faulty sim.
Tried a china sim in the iphone and works ok. I have heard that sometimes a sim works in NZ but wont roam

Get Telecom to check the roaming profile on the HLR not just in the CRM /GUI platform,

This is a very quick check and takes me less than 1 minute, I am not sure Telecom CSRs have read/write access

Agreed here John.  Go back to the roaming helpdesk and get them to check the provisioning of the SIM.

Otherwise you can PM me the mobile number and I will see what can be done.
