I was checking our database today, and found the following emails:

4,222 xtra.co.nz
  711 ihug.co.nz

600 paradise.net.nz
  210 xnet.co.nz
  109 snap.net.nz

Interestingly, some active users still have these inactive emails (except for xtra, which still exists but I am not sure how many bother paying for it).

Just a warning, if you lose your password or you are forced to reset it, you won't be able to receive the codes.

I support a lot of retirees, probably because I am just about there myself, Xtra is like a thing these folk cannot seem to divorce themselves from and it ties them to Spark accounts, but they just accept it as though that's how life works,  grrrrre

I’m retired and pay for xtra. Because I was amongst their earliest accounts I got my initials as my address - as in xxx@xtra.co.nz

Probably silly but I’m attached to it and want to keep it. And I guess it partly keeps me tied to Spark.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I knew someone whose user portion of her email address was nothing more than her first initial.

@eracode

I was like you, hanging  on to my xtra address from good old Telcom days and later only paying for the email subscription as I switched to another broadband provider
Ever since they jacked up the email subscription I have now closed the account and moved all my email to yahoo.

Out of curiosity; How many use email relays/masks? E.g. Firefox relay with @mozmail.com .

Why would snap.net.nz be inactive? they ran a promotion like orcon.net.nz once for free email for life and there (although agreed subjectively not a good idea) are many Southnet Snap and many other address's linked to their acquisitions still in use.. lots are probably just redirects now.

I thought the Snap emails were already gone. But if they are alive, all the better for the users. I put them in the same basked as Xtra - the telcos aren'r really in the email business and I don't think the service has the features and quality of other cloud-based services.

I'm trying to update my email address in my profile. I'm supplying my current password. But it consistently fail saying "I can't do that, Dave".

How can I update my email address? I'm  a subscriber and a trusted user....for almost 20 years (next March). 😎
