I tried using GZ on my partner's cellphone when we've been away. It's a painful experience (but that goes for all websites via cellphones). So I just stick to visiting websites on the laptop at home or on someone else's computer.
quickymart: I'm finding it slow to load the front page as well.
Very interesting. I use it constantly on mobile and it's very fast - I actually know it because there are some scripts removed from the mobile version. I'm just setting up a new phone and it's fast on this one too.

I always found the mobile site more difficult to use and would switch to the full site forums straight away. I could not see what advantage the mobile site gave. It seemed like a step backwards so glad this has been changed.
Oh no, not another end of the world prediction
Batwing:
There's just two much info to fit horizontally and to still be able to read it in the desktop view without zooming in on each thread I open.
Yes, there is a lot of info but if you zoom in it's no problem to read on Opera. For example on the Geekzone Home page there is three columns. Zoom in on one of them and Opera reflows the text for that one column and you read it as a column with no need to swipe left and right to read the magnified text.
I'd recommend giving Opera a try. Make sure you go into the Content section of Settings and select "Text Wrap" and "Force Enable Zoom".
I've never felt the need to swap between mobile and desktop view while using Opera.

For me it's not just Geekzone. There's other sites that have mobile and desktop sites and on all of them I use the desktop site.
Take the time time get familiar with Opera, not that it's all that much different to any other browser. If you decide to keep using it and put it on multiple devices get yourself an Opera account then you can sync between devices, including your desktop/laptop if you put Opera on it as well.
What have you been using as a browser up till now? I'm confident you'll find Opera better than what you are currently using.

Chrome and the mobile version looked really good. Not really sold on installing another browser just to view one site though (never been a huge fan of Opera).
If, however, the mobile site was switched off for cost reasons, I would understand :)
