Just floating an idea here... I am planning to test a change that will see visits to www.geekzone.co.nz NOT redirecting to mobile site unless you select the option to see the mobile site by default.

If you enter m.geekzone.co.nz on mobile you will still be served that.

The main site is fast on mobile and I want to measure exactly how much is influenced by the redirection.

Cool, I was loading it from home screen on iPhone so could go to full site straight away.

Can just save it in favourite bookmarks now, before bookmark was going to mobile site.
Full site works good.

I fully support this. I had no idea that the desktop version of the site was fully functional on mobile until it was mentioned on that other thread recently, so many others may be getting unnecessarily frustrated with the mobile version.

This is now in-place. You can browse the mobile site and use it for posting replies but all defaults go to the main site - including links from emails.

I'm always keen for a full site on mobile as default.  Can't stand mobile sites these days.

Sounds good. I almost always browse the full site on mobile using the Opera browser, so I can actually get proper text reflow and resizing.

I have switched off the mobile version now. All pages redirect to the desktop version. When on mobile the rich text editor is automatically disabled (although I understand some mobile browsers support it).

The main reason is feature parity. I have fixed faults and added features to the main site but not reflecting this on mobile.

One of the new features, added today is the ability for site admin to "kick" someone from a thread - this will be used instead of a full ban when we think someone is derailing a discussion that we want to see going ahead, without the intrusive user.

Another feature that exists only on desktop is very similar, but existed for some time now: we can ban users from specific sub-forums.

Doesn't look good in Chrome. Everything looks massive and weird :(

Looks good here, although I do recommend Opera as it actually reflows the text regardless of the zoom you choose.

Chrome below:

Excellent! Take the rest of the day off!

I have a bookmark on my iPhone X, goes to main site, I then need to play with magnification, and thats all good, I knew that. But the change is great. Full site, yet the view uses my screen size without me zooming in or out (which I still can do if required). Flip to landscaper, just works.

I note my bookmark goes to the forum view than the main website view, not that that is bad. One click and main site.

Excellent
