Logo/Banner not there any more. smile

Unsure if that is deliberate or if something broke?

If deliberate then thanks @freitasm

Not everything is permanent - results for a week show we might not need something like this for now.

However, I don't understand the hate. It's out of the way, the badge small and only existed to let people know the page had an automatic recaptcha. The benefits are measurable: we can identify bad actions while they're happening, so the results out be less spam, trolls, etc.

Not all of my computers have touch screens. It sits right over the scrollbar.

I don't get the issue. And why do people have trouble scrolling?

Doesn't pretty much every laptop do gestures on the track pad? And what mouse doesn't have a scroll wheel?!

Gestures don't work well for people with coordination problems.

Not everyone is the same.

Page Up/Page Down, Cursor Buttons etc. There are multiple ways to scroll a page.

This is the kind of argument that can go nowhere forever so I will confine myself to a final comment. Different people do things in different ways, usually because different ways work better for different people. When using my notebook, mostly from the couch with it propped in my lap, scrolling with the trackpad mouse is much easier than two-handed Fn key operations, especially when I just want to go quickly back and forth on a page to check something. You don't have to believe me but that's the way it is.

Cursor keys require no Fn button use.

If you can scroll with the track pad mouse, there shouldn't be any issue with a logo at the bottom of the page, no matter where it's placed! Why complain about something that isn't a problem!

Complaining for the sake of complaining?

I don't see why I should have to keep explaining myself to you. I do not complain for the sake of complaining, and I find that insulting. Apart from that, why target me? I wan't the only one who did complain. Nor was I the first.

On my notebook, pgup/pgdn (which you suggested) are Fn keys. If I try to scroll down with the arrow key, it goes line by line down the page and I also lose my place. On Windows the scroll bar button to scroll down is at bottom right, which is partly obscured by the logo. This make it difficult to control downward scrolling on my notebook with the mouse (yes I have tried it).

Apart from that, the position in which I sit on the couch (to ease chronic back pain) makes it awkward to use my right hand with the computer, so I tend to operate the mouse with my left when navigating to read posts.

I hope this adequately explains my various preferences and disabilities to satisfy you.

Edit: I mixed something up which I tend to do in my old age. Yes, I can scroll with the arrow key. I was thinking of something else. But I still don't like to do it on my Notebook because it requires right-hand operation. It is just easier for me to navigate with left hand only from the trackpad on that computer. I hope that clarifies things and I hope it is the end of this discussion.

@Rikkitic: You're the one complaining that it was placed such that you couldn't scroll, when you actually can.

To others (and I'm not aiming this at everyone who has commented in this thread, if the cap fits, wear it.) - a little understanding and patience while we try and make this place smoother and safer would be very much appreciated, rather than as it currently stands where some of you start complaining like a spoilt child every time a little change is made. @freitasm works very hard trying to get this place running just right, and the disrespect some show him is mind boggling. How would you like it if someone came to your place and complained at how you do things?

It's rather obvious a few of you dislike change - no matter how small it is - and are unwilling to just work with it and go with the flow. Constructive criticism is one thing, whinging and ranting is totally different. It happens way too often here.

Cheers and thanks for your understanding.

Thanks @stu.

I do feel sometimes things get out of hand. I am sorry folks, this is still my place. Been doing things here for 15 years with help from volunteer moderators. It is a never ending job. Days and nights.

Just this week I fixed five bugs that @michaelmurfy pointed out, plus removed 700 lines of code to make it faster. Also fixed one XSS security thing.

So, forgive me for trying things that can make it better/faster/safer.

I can understand the frustration being expressed here. It is a valid point. But I don't understand why I was singled out. About a dozen people commented ("complained") about this. My only comment was a constructive suggestion that maybe the image could be replaced with a tiny one. After the image was removed, someone commented on that and I replied with "yay". That was the sum total of my comments until I got dragged into a discussion of why I objected to it.

The image does in fact partially obscure my scroll bar at the bottom on my notebook. It doesn't completely cover it but I found it distracting. It wasn't end of the world I can't live with it distracting, just gee I wish that wasn't there distracting. So I commented. I wasn't flaming anyone, just explaining why the image bothered me. Surely that is allowed?
