I would probably keep the TouchSmart PC, and give both laptops to my mum (who has an ancient PC..., along with the AIO printer as her current HP AIO is nearly going to break down - it screeches!) and my sister (who doesn't have a PC of her own, and constantly nags my parents for access to the Internet)

Then the Media Extender, Mini 1000, and the other stuff would go to friends or probably more likely - a sale on Trade Me with profits going to Starship.

Just for kicks, I dug up the first and last names of 5 female contest sponsors, not that easy to find them given that the tech industry is so Y chromosome heavy...

I'd like to extend that challenge to others, it adds a little more fun than using just the participants that named their websites after themselves. I doubt it will net anyone extra points, but it adds a personal challenge to things.

Good luck to all.

Heya Geekzone!

Thank-you so much for giving us the chance to win such an awesome prize pack! I'm a University student and this will come in handy for my assignments and recording stuff on TV when I don't have the time to sit down and watch them.

Plus I have started a gaming community site with my flatmate Iain who also goes to University called Sweet As Gaming.co.nz. We run free Call of Duty Tournaments and know that this package is exactly what we need to get our community up and running and hopefully provide us with a better chance at video editing our Tournaments.

I will also give away some of the package to my friends who moved to New Zealand from India. He always wanted a computer and hopefully this is his chance to get one :) He's done so much for me and this is one way I can re pay him.

Thanks once again Geekzone and all the best.

Kind regards,

Tomek

I don't know if it's just me because I pressed "Send Information" in the competition form but there's no confirmation if I sent it successfully. I fill out the Comments area too..

My question if it was successfully sent or not?

I would like to participate in your HP Magic competition(sent my entry).I already do have a computer & i don’t have a need for another. If i get the opportunity to win, i would love to donate the entire package among the children of a local children home/school where i teach at.

Now let me say something about the home. The name of the home is Arushi which means "The first ray of the sun".The home has been established over sixteen years ago to provide a home, education, medical aid & opportunity to some of the children of my city Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) who found themselves living on the streets of the city.Children who suffer extreme poverty and who have little or no ability to change their lives. More than anything they need the love and security of a home.

This home takes the responsibility of these children so that these kids can get proper education, proper foods & atleast some happiness & can grow up like a normal kid should. This organization  strives to integrate poor children with no family & children with disabilities into the mainstream of society.

The home runs by an NGO called “Elaan” here in Calcutta. This NGO deals with Child Sexual Abuse issues. If you want to know more about the kind of work this NGO does, you can please visit their blog here.

If you have time, you can give my post a read here on the blog of the NGO.I think, you will get the idea how much pain & suffering these children are going through.

Some of the pictures of these kids can also be found here on my Flickr photostream.

This NGO also runs six other child homes where more than 700 former street children are living & studying from Kindergarten to Class 10.These homes also take in children from the surrounding slum communities where kids may have a family but parents are unable to send their children to schools because of the cost of the education.

My job is teaching in one of these homes as i’ve mentioned earlier. And not only me, many college students are teaching the children here in their part time.In my school, there are more than 150 children who share 10 old desktop computers. These homes try to educate these children so that they can prepare themselves for the higher studies.

So, you can see,the opportunities are endless.I would love to donate those computer parts to our school so that the children can get better opportunity to learn & prepare themselves for a better future.Thank you for understanding.

this my story and whom I want to share it with.

If i were to win this competition i would firstly be over excited and overwhelmed, because i have won nothing in my life.

I would like to donate the DV4 notebook to Don Bosco Boarding School, because these kids have nothing at all, let alone computers they daily food is like only lentils, and chicken or meat is bought for them only on occasions. I would really like these kids to learn how to use a computer and educate themselves.

Another notebook I would like to give to a Nursery School which is funded by our church, this school has no technology at all, they have been asking me to help them get different quotations for computers but even the cheapest one they aren’t able to afford. They use an ancient typewriter to type out letters. So I would like them to have a notebook.

I would like my wife to have the HP Mini, cause she is doing a 4 month course in Sales & Marketing and at the moment she is writing everything down on paper.

The Kung Fu Panada Movie i would like to give to my cuz cause they love that cartoon.

Besides i have had an extremely bad year since the beginning, firstly we were asked to leave our house, so we needed to leave immediately, then in June my father passed away because of cancer, then 2 months later my aunt passed away, she slipped and fell in the bathroom, then again 2 months later i lost my job. So my winning this it would really make me and my family happy, and before this year ends it will make our Christmas special. And adding to all this I was not robbed of US$8000 for work I did for the past 4 months for a client remotely.

So I would really like to win and make me a bit happy and the people around me.

Thank you.

Peter Franco
