TheBartender: fast, uses little data, and no adverts.

I will make it clear now to prevent misunderstandings. We will have advertising on the mobile site. It's likely to be a single banner. But since mobile advertising is something that hasn't been tested in New Zealand yet we won't be pushing this too hard - yet.

hehe, if you use flash based ads i'll be ok asthe wont display on my win mobile :)

same deal as regular site  i expect.  subscribe to get ad-free?

don't mind ads as long as each banner is small data-wise.

Yes, I don't think mobile ads are flash or any other technology based.

Yep, subscribers will have no ads.

Frontpage now forums page.

I assume you meant 'not'.. I ruled out you meaning the front page, as I cannot see any mention of recent forum posts on it. (not saying it's not there, I just can't see it).

Ultimately, it doesn't matter. *shrug*

Note that http://geekzone.mobi is now live as well, pointing to the same domain. Your choice of shortest URL (http://geekzone.mobi is shorter by three characters)...

HAH! I am now - I missed it because it's such a similar style to the Profile 'friends activity' column above it, and I missed the break with the "Forums" header. Told you I just couldn't *see* it... PEBKAC :)

Looking at that, and concentrating, it's ambiguous there too, it could be the poster or the author.

I really would like to help with small usability enhancements of the forums ;)

You can hide the friends' updates. Or you can look at the frontpage. Did you know we list the blogs and news there too?

If anyone is willing to use Hamachi then you are welcome to try our dev.geekzone.co.nz server for the full website version. I might accept five people? PM me if interested.

Haha... was waiting for that. No Mauricio, I'm really sorry, I don't usually look at the front page.

I was able to get geekzone.mobi during the sunrise period, when it was available to trademark owners only - so it cost a bit back then. I am not sure how much is a .mobi domain now but I don't think we need something different than "geekzone".

Its looking and responding good...I like that it cuts straight to he business, no clutter...

Just some more thoughts and suggestions:

1) +1 for quote button
2) The main/landing page...can that have the following:
- Forums (link to all forums as currently offered)
- User creaed forums (with flags if any new posts since last visit)
- Subscribed forums (with flags if any new posts since last visit)
- Forums posted in (with flags if any new posts since last visit)

And it would be nice, if when clicking on a link to a forum that has 'new posts since last visit', that it jumps you to the latest post, rather than just the start of the thread.

As for ads, I can understand that, but could they be done in a way so to keep the data down, and loading speed up, as currently its brilliant...txt ads only?

PS: If I am missing T's in my words, its because my wireless keyboard is missing them...its a PITA.
