Geekzone Mobile is live now. Feedback is welcome.

1.As of now if you are browsing from a mobile site and try to reach www.geekzone.co.nz then you will be redirected to m.geekzone.co.nz

2.If you are using a desktop browser and try to reach m.geekzone.co.nz then you will be redirected to www.geekzone.co.nz

3.Email notifications still come with www.geekzone.co.nz links. However if you hit a link to a forum post it will automatically redirect to the appropriate page

4.Posting on m.geekzone.co.nz automatically set Email Notification and Show Signature. There will be options for this later

5.At the bottom of all m.geekzone.co.nz pages there's a link to the main site. This is if for any reason you want to see the main site on your mobile device. This is valid for the session duration only.

6.At the bottom of all www.geekzone.co.nz pages there's a link to the mobile site. This is if you want to return to the mobile view at any time before the session ends.

7.The mobile site is intentionally not accessible from the desktop browser

8.There are more things planne. Before asking, check the list in our first post in this topic, and the other comments.

9.If you are using a mobile browser and can't see the mobile site, please forward a PM to me with the user agent string.

*** Please note the site can be accessed through either m.geekzone.co.nz and geekzone.mobi ***

Thanks to Phil (RedJungle) for working with us on this project!

Tried it out before you posted :)

Quite like the simple interface, especially now I don't have to keep on disabling rich text editor to use it on my iPod touch.

why not enable two links in the email notification? rather than having a detection in placed, just two possible links to click from.

If there's not detection in place, then this lightweight can be used for super lightweight usage even on desktop.

Is there a mobile version of the "New forum posts" page?

Very nice, just tried it on my N97. Loads fast and easy on data.

However, just one suggestion - could you add a "Post a reply" link at the bottom of the thread pages too so that we don't have to stroll right up to the top to reply? Cheers:)

Good question, but some people don't even read the email notifications - I still get PM from people asking how to unsubscribe from the email notifications - when there's a link on each email to do exactly that!

(posting from m.geekzone.co.nz on Safari4 Windows)

Anyhow, the order of the replies on m.geekzone.co.nz is different from the full site. For example manhinli and heavenly_wild posts were made before Mauricio's reply to mine. However m.geekzone.co.nz showed them after yours.

Looks good. Testing on htc magic. The text seems very small and hard to read. Of course I can zoom in, but I need to do that for each page.

Something else I just noticed. I have e mail reply notifications turned off by default, but it seems to ignore that setting and send them anyway. There is not option on posting to turn them on or off.

Flag that. Didn't read point 4.

[EDIT: Spelling mistake... the mobile page is missing an edit post button]

great work! am posting from my treo 750. looks fine in 'one column' and 'fit to screen' views.

one request: a 'post reply' link at the bottom of the page too so u don't have to scroll to top again first :)

Actually quite useful to have "Post reply", the "breadcrumb", and the "Home" as well as "Forums" links duplicated at the bottom for ease of navigation.

I'd imagine there will be pagination too? If so, make sure they're on the top as well as at the bottom.

I like it...
fast, uses little data, and no adverts.
I do agree it needs a post reply button at the bottom of the threads

Don't put a post reply link at the bottom. Put a quick reply box on the same page.
