kaiwai: OK, I'll nominate myself as Mary Poppins for the evening - I'll keep a track of the toe-rags.

This is very generous - but you can't nominate yourself as guardian of someone you don't know. The only responsibe people are parents or nominated guardians.

The whole thing is that we don't want problems.

So I am sorry, but we are asking for under 18 not to attend. It's a shame because lots participate in the forums, but in that kind of environment where drinks are freely available we just can't risk.

s.joseph, as discussed, if you are under 18 we will have to remove your name from the list.

logicalit:
freitasm: Here is the problem - minors wouldn't have to buy drinks because these are free. So someone needs to be responsible for minors there while free alcohol is available.

Arrr, Clear as mud. :-) I'd missed that little detail....

I stand, well, sit, corrected, kaiwai is officially nanny for the evening. He/she? will be the one in the silly hat, carrying an umbrella and carpet bag.

well, more like someone who appears like a middle aged man (but actually only 26 years old) :P

It's not just about the drinking, it's about the overall level of maturity required at a gathering of a large number of adults who on the evening are representatives of a significant website and community.

In english, the boss has spoken, maybe you can come and play next year.

I am sorry this is a decision that affects some people who contribute a lot to the forums, but it is a matter of being a responsibe host - so if you are not 18 yet we won't be able to have you attending this event.

We love ya really S.Joseph, but during this forum it was decided that it was necessary to set an age limit. Two people have already unfortunately been taken off the list and it would be unfair to have double standards as such.

I am sure this will not be a one off event, so next time you will just be able to sympathise a little more than most with the unfortunate soles who are still under 18.

Sorry about that; maybe we can organise a party for the young guys - its kinda stink that you're excluded from it, but they're the rules I guess.

Yikes - looking at my inbox, this reminds me of the ol' newsgroup alt.barney.die.die.die - Back in the ol' BBS days we used to do the BBQ thing out at the Groynes which worked well.. so if people are keen, as things start to heat up again in Aug/Sept we could do something like that.

Nick.

Sounds like a good idea. Too bad I don't have a BBQ or otherwise I would have nominated my flat as the 'place to be'.

Wow, 8 pages of sneaky travelling, underage seekers, general mishaps and guardians.  For a pizza event, which is in my own town.  I shouldn't have stopped coming here!  Haha.
Too much catching up to do.  Well, cannot make it, but I hope Spags can host you all, and you all have a great time!
