50 seconds and half of the site doesn't load. Netscape Navigator Gold, Win 3.11.

You are not alone. I tried Lynx and it didn't show any images or ads...

Agree with others. Overall much more modern design, but it is hard to separate the sections.

A quick play with firebug gave this: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/526/picture1giz.png

I reckon it focuses the sections a bit better.

[Moderator edit (MF): removed picture, added hyperlink instead. It was HUGE]

[re-edit (alsta) with smaller picture, my bad....]

Thanks for the suggestion. But do we need to have this gigantic picture?

freitasm: What about in terms of speed rendering the frontpage? Note that we are not using any table there now.

Much improved, 2-3sec for me also on Telstra atm.

I like the new look. Sort of helps seperate the windows from one another.

Wow, been away from Geekzone for a few days and it went and got itself all flash and news site looking.

I love the new look, well done Fretias.

The one thing I would like to second is the page numbers get lost at the bottom and it's the second time I've not realised there was more than the page I was viewing...

Not a web designer but can't there be a more highlighed way of indicating more pages, at the top (Page 3 of 5) or move it down the bottom to somewhere further up????

I agree page numbers at the top and bottom would be a nice improvement for the forums.

kobiak: looking good :) but latest forum posts on the right side is too narrow for 1024x768 resolution :(

This is one of very few web sites that makes the most of my 24" widescreen display. I have started using the Homepage again. You get a snapshot of everything at a glance.

The ads occupie less than 1/8 of my screen at the 1920x1080 resolution - which is not too intrusive [and I know how important it is to have that for the survival of the site].

Actually this morning the home page is running a bit slow - It loads the header.. then pauses for 5 seconds (with the status bar saying waiting for scoop.co.nz) and then it loads the rest. Still acceptable.

Well at least at present it works with Opera 10 and my Sunbelt firewall with out having to turn ad blocking off every time I come to this site so that the pages will load..
