I've posted this on my Twitter, so it's just fair I post here too!

Any ideas, suggestions welcome - but be realistic. There is no date set for this yet, just some ideas kicking around, thanks to RedJungle (click for larger version):

I like it, as long as it loads fast and makes it easier to read articles, I'm happy :)

A mobile freindly version please?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Looks Nice. Maybe move that Flash ad from the right of the reviews to the left?

As I spend most of my time on this site in the forums having some of the basic functions that almost all other forums seem to have would be nice.. The big two would be

The "new" tag working as it should. ie only shows on the thread until you have read that thread and for it not to be removed until you have read the thread.

Second would be that there is is shortcut link to new posts. I am not quite sure why this seems to not be possible with the forum software Geekzone is using but if sites the size of http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au can have it work I cant see why Geekzone can't?

yip the only two things missing here are a more mobile friendly version, and the ability to go to last read post in a thread. Big ones for me.

I wouldn't mind if the Search function stood out more. Maybe it could be right-justified and a bit bigger than the "What are you doing?" field. It does seem to stand out more in the new design but the width of my resolution leaves the field around the centre of the screen. For some reason it's not the first place I go looking for it - that big empty field for "What are you doing?" just catches my eye first.

2 features I would like to see implemented...

1) Collapsable sections - On the Geekzone main page, it would be nice if I could collapse/minimise sections I don't want to see, and cookies remember my settings so they are still minimised when I next visit etc

Sections like 'Featured', 'Reviews', 'Profile', 'News', 'RSS', 'Forums', 'Promotions', 'Blogs', 'Jobs' and 'Software'

2) A user favorites section - a section on the main page that displays threads I have marked as favorites/to follow, my threads, and threads I have posted in.
This section should also be where email is linked from, showing the number of emails in my inbox.

I like that the whole design sits on black background as it is "eco-friendly" (need less energy to display) :)

Quick questions I could think of:
Will you have widgets for Vista, Nokia N97, etc?
What about an iPhone optimized Geekzone like The New Zealand Herald website?
And what about if registered users of the website could download special GZ wallpaper? :)

I is a kollege stoodent. Bee nice.

Thank you everyone for your comments so far. My question was actually about design - not feature.

Access to a preview site would be enabled when we have decided on the design and implemented the most of it so people can use, test in most browsers, etc. When this happens I will post here.

A mobile version (starting with our forums) is in the plans.

We currentlty offer a "NEW" flag based on new posts since your last login - or if you use the New Forum Posts page you can see all new or modified discussions since your last login, today, or yesterday. This link is always shown in the menu after you login (and is currently one of the top five pages on Geekzone in number of views).

A "Jump to last" or "Jump to first unread" can be done, still based on the time from last login.

The current Google Search option in the menu is just the size to make the display fit on a 1024 screen - any longer and it will put scroll bars around.

The new design will start on the frontpage and once we roll it out then we can start modifying the forums and others.
