RE: UNDERAGERS

  • On licenced premises, a minor is somebody under the age of 18.
  • A minor may not enter licenced premises without the the presence AND supervision of their parent or LEGAL guardian (signed letters and kind offers do not count for ANYTHING), even if that minor does not intend to drink alcohol.
  • It's law, its nothing to do with Geekzone or the premises themselves.
  • Any teenager under 18 knows they cannot legally walk into a bar without a parent/guardian, and this event has not been shy about where it is being held, nor about the fact alcohol will be present. That should have been the first clue <18's were not able to attend.

Fossie: Just so there's no confusion. I will be winning the xbox.

Good luck.  From what I've been told, you need a post count in single digits to win (if Auckland and Wellington are anything to go by).

Maybe 3bit could rectify that situation by providing a spiffy new IP phone for all attendees in addition to all the free grog we are very thankful for ;-)

Of course, you mean for the Auckland attendees also, right? Cool

Maybe.

I think the fairest method would be to start with those who attend all 3 events then move onto the others further down the list if stock is still available ;-)

Not to be pedantic or anything, but my understanding is that Spagalimis is a "Restaurant" not a "Tavern" so during normal business hours under-18's would be entitled to be on the premises. However for a private party with freely available alcohol the issues are presumably different. (So in my mind it wasn't unreasonable for u18's to think they could attend.)

I propose we build a bridge and get over it

It's R18, and that is that.

Just a thought, those that are on the waiting list and / or those under 18's how about some suggestions of a place to catch up beforehand - maybe you could organise a mid afternoon ten pin bowling session something to at least meet a few people?

Just so there's no confusion, we're all really sorry for whatever the unfortunate incident was that meant you couldn't attend. :-D
