I remember the supreme bean mentioned the web server (IIS7) is set to recycle it's application pool / worker processes at 1am.

With classic asp I think session state is lost if the worker processes are recycled. Unlike with asp.net it's not easy to configure/setup classic asp sites to use an out of process state server for session data.

We are actuallly working on a shared session server that will allow access to our API, ASP session and .Net session (coming soon!)

Folks, we have now deployed an update to our login system (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=4&topicid=60324) that should prevent this happening, even if we recycle IIS workers.

Basically we are now running Geekzone in a session-less domain, with all the login being handled in our SQL DB and a couple of cookies in your browser.

And yes, we no longer store username or password in your cookie jar...

I would start with deleting all geekzone cookies and logging in and seeing if that helps.

If you login every time then the New Posts feature won't work...

Start by clicking here: www.geekzone.co.nz/clearcookies.asp then try the login again. We still need cookies enabled though - it's just the user/password that's not stored anymore.

I guess this whole "it ate my post" thing hasn't happened in the last month or so now?

it happens to me if i spend a very long time writing a reply. it happened within the last 7 days.
it comes up with an error. i cant remember if the error is a browser error, or a geekzone error. i cant remember if it's the quick reply box or the compose reply page.

if it happens again, i'll pay more attention, instead of trying to click back to see if i could recover my text
