Hello folks

This is an update on some changes made to our login system. From now on we are no longer storing usernames and passwords in cookies. This will all be managed on the server side.

This will allow us to run our server in a different configuration - even multiple servers for the domain if needed.

This also means that a new option was added to Profile Options. Clicking the "Logout from all browsers now" does exactly what it says. If you left a session open in a friend's place, or an Internet cafe, you can now logout remotely - this option will logout from all browsers, including the one you are using when clicking the link. But it's a very safe feature.

This will also allow us to move to a different development platform while co-existing with our current system. Users will be able to login to multiple services/domains on Geekzone with a single signon.

Also we do have a SSL certificate installed (actually for a couple of years now) and will enable an option for an encrypted login in the next week after we test the new system.

Note that our mobile site still uses the old authentication. It means you can't logout from it remotely - yet.

At the moment you have to delete old cookies if you want to get rid of those user/password pairs. I think I might add those two old cookies to the cleanup process.

Will do it later.

Hello folks... I have now released the SSL update. It means that your login credentials are encrypted when going between your browser and Geekzone.

The SSL support, plus the use of tokens on cookies instead of user/password pairs should be a good move.

The SSL is only used on the form submission. You don't need to have SSL for all those images, etc. It's an unnecessary overhead.

I can't log in from either of my computers (posting this via mobile site, which still works). I've deleted cookies and still no go. Is anyone else having trouble?

There's something wrong... though now I can post a reply after clicking on "reply" and I got asked for login and so on...

(Though it might have just been fixed seconds ago...)

Ditto from Opera 10.52.  It took several attempts from Chrome to get in and then I found there was no new content only this thread since my last login of about 2 hours ago..

It's all back on track folks... It was just me applying a fix for the problem with the "New posts" date.

And now "reset read flags" isn't working.
