Hi

I am moving over to TelstraClear. How much notice do I need to give Vodafone  when I am leaving.

My billing period is from 14th.

I believe the system is you pay up-to the end of the billing period you cancel within.

you don't need to call them, your new provider will do this for you.

Don't assume.  Always confirm this is done with the losing provider.

I agree this advice. Although the new ISP should arrange it for you, they can mess the dates up. I would give vodafone a ring a few days before to confirm.

Well, a fair few years ago now, before we got adsl2+ we called telecom to tell them we were changing to slingshot and to disconnect our broadband, then we called up slingshot and they said sure we'll change you right over, took our names down, gave us dialup to use (since that was faster than the go large plan we were on) and then slingshot called us saying there was no ports. so I reckon it's easier if you just don't interfere with the process :P

I just hope that Telstaclear dont just cancel my account which will mean I have to pay a months worth of internet for not giving them 30 days notice.

Most providers have 30 days notice, so I would check

Billing period is from 1st of the month to the end of the month for every FAB customer. Sounds like you are referring to your data cycle?

If you leave during your billing cycle, say on the 25th of the month, you will be charged up to the end of your billing cycle which is the end of the month.

Of course if you have a contract there will be ETC's so you may want to check this first if you are unsure.

It is also a very good idea to check your account is closed after moving to another provider as sometimes the notifications for this may not come through.
