Since getting my VFX line I have moved and want to update my white pages listing.  I rang world exchange a few months ago and was told to ring yellow pages group directly and change it myself.

I rang yellow pages group at that time and was told it would be sorted out.  A few weeks later when still nothing had happened I rang them back again and was told I had to fill out some forms they were going to post to me and return them.  The forms never came.  I decided to ring world exchange a few days ago and see if they had given me wrong information or if the system had changed and was again referred to yellow pages group.  Ringing them I followed the voice prompts through a number o menus all of which had the same options, but with different numbers for the options, and some menus even used the number 3 for two different options? eventually it hung up on me.  Ringing back I was able to get a person but was referred back to my phone provider as they are unable to change residential accounts for privacy reasons.

Is there any way of updating a whitepages listing when you have a vfx line?  (my understanding is that under the privacy act I am legally entitled to update any details that are held about me)

I think it must be done through WorldxChange - call them again and ask to speak to a CSR who knows what you are on about.

Basic whitepages listing moves adds or changes should be through your local service provider, WxC in this instance.

WxC did not want to help me in sorting listing I had to ring white pages direct.

I've ported two numbers to VFX and WorldxChange told me twice I should take this directly to Yellow Pages/White Pages - which I did and it was quickly sorted.

I've had the same experience as @freitasm - My ported number onto iTalk needed an update, and I did it directly and quickly through calling the Yellow Pages guys.

My on-line listing was removed immediately when I went to Fusion, but it took a couple of months for them to put it back even though it was exactly the same (ported Telecom number).

The Fusion application form has space for entering the details you want listed and WxC passes it on. After that you need to contact Yellowpages yourself. I never contacted them, but after a few months my on0line listing magically reappeared.

Thanks guys

I assume the numbers Andrew, Maurico and Mike refer to above were free residential listings, not business lines.

I guess I just have to keep trying yellow pages until I get someone who is willing or able to help.

Interesting - was not the process when I was involved with YPG 18 months ago.

It doesn't seem to be the process for most, if not all other providers now either.  The 2009 phone book says to contact your phone provider and I know telecom have staff that will take care of it for their customers.

Rang yellow pages again and they were adamant that because it is a simple residential listing (originally placed by telecom with the number later ported to vfx) they are unable to change it unless a request for a change is forwarded to them from my phone provider for 'security reasons'.

Rang world exchange and they told to ring yellow pages group and ask for supervisor. Supervisor gave me the same story and refered me back to world exchange.

I have had the same problem, I am on 2talk, and on the 2talk website it says to ring yellow to get your whitepages listing. However when I rang yellow I was told that because it was a private listing the request needed to come from the provider.

Your VFX line had three way calling, call both WxC and Yellow at same time

This is typical of YPG. I've had no end of issues with listings. Changes do need to be made via YPG directly. I had a business line which they screwed up (Listed my residential number as business number) and took 9 phone calls, several to supervisors, to remedy.

Even instructions clearly laid out in emails were screwed up. Most of my emails to them however are to this day unanswered.

Their service seems to have crashed and burned since the sale and sadly there is no viable alternative.

There are also other issues I have had with them, like this one I posted about many moons ago:
