r2b2: Just to throw something into the mix, my connection is ex-TCL cable and I'm on 203.97.X.X but I haven't come across any particular issues personally.

(Although now I've probably just jinxed it!)

Have you tried any of the sites that have been listed on this site as problematic such as www.hgst.com or us.battle.net/wow/en/ ?

Would be could if you could try them and let us know how they go :)

I have tried the odd one here and there throughout the thread and not had too much problem. Tried these two and here's the stats from Chrome dev tools:
battle.net: 5.86 s (onload: 5.86 s, DOMContentLoaded: 2.16 s)
battle.net take 2: 7.39 s (onload: 7.39 s, DOMContentLoaded: 5.91 s)
hgst.com: 31.46 s (onload: 31.46 s, DOMContentLoaded: 6.72 s)
hgst.com take 2: 1.2 min (onload: 1.1 min, DOMContentLoaded: 31.75 s)

So looks like battle.net is not that bad from my end but hgst.com does look a little problematic. Ran hgst.com through webpagetest.org to make sure it wasn't just the server and doesn't look like it at that reports 8.318s.

I've got the HAR file for hgst.com if anyone wants it...

Got a call from Vodafone. Apparently they had another maintenance window sometime between 5pm - 6pm to try and get this fixed. Again it seems to be all working, but let's see how it behaves for the next few days.

There needs to be more of maintenance notifications/planned work personally from them in a thread dedicated to it here, where we can see what's going on and where.
That would take some stress.

I can confirm that all the sites that I have been having issues with seem to now be working. Fingerningers crossed :)

Both sites I knew were problematic (mikrotik.com and experflyer.com) are both working OK.

They are both a little on the sluggish side, but based upon their latency I don't expect them to be as snappy as something closer.

The connection has certainly been improved and pretty good speed. I wonder what was fixed?! Will we ever find out? I think a bit of knowledge of what did go wrong and what was discovered could certainly put some goodness back on Vodafone and restore confidence.

Lots of servers improperly drop ICMP requests. Having a server that doesn't reply to ICMPs (ping/traceroute) is not necessarily a bad sign. Admins used to drop them to filter out attacks (I believe).

tcptraceroute with a port different from port 80 (to avoid the proxy) might show a result.

I was more interested in the VOCUS hop more then anything. I can understand why they would drop packets. The high pings to any server in Australia is just bad(connected to several Australian servers results in 200+ pings but new zealand and anything in America produce no problems.

Vodafone routes were all over the place... for a while pings to cdn.geekzone.co.nz and others were around 25 - 30ms, similar to other ISPs. This is to the Sydney POP.

Then it suddenly went up to 150ms. And that's because they started getting anything from Cloudflare from Singapore instead of Sydney.

Asked many times why, never got to the bottom of it. So all other ISPs in New Zealand get to Geekzone resources in under 30ms, except Vodafone.

But that seems to be unrelated to the proxy farm problems.
