Ooh good price, have ordered. We'll see how it goes.
If this had Plex I'd buy a few for myself and the grandparents in a heartbeat, maybe one day.

@sansom When watching catch up TV from the planner many programs are getting cut off before the end of what I am watching buy at least 2 minutes
Are you aware of any issues? example this evening ' David lomas Investigates '
Hi John! Sorry for the delay... trying to juggle kids at home with work (grrr).
This happens when the programme start/stop times don't match the epg data from the offending channel. We add buffers to recordings so that the recording starts and ends a couple of mins either side to accommodate slippage from the schedule, but we can't do this with the continuous 3 day circular catchup buffer. I'll check to see if there's some sort of systemic issue that's caused a slip between the epg and live channels.
One way to see the end if you strike this is to go to the next programme and restart that from the beginning to catch the end of the previous programme (assuming the next programme has restart rights enabled). But I assume you already knew that ;-)
We're working to get the ability to add buffers to the catchup playback, or even better, get the ability to correct the epg data on the fly.

Yes, it's quite tricky as they're really heavy and not round/small enough!

I have the known problem where my VTV Gen2 doesn't work when connected to one of my AV Receivers, a current Onkyo TX-NR686 (4K compatible) unit connected to a 1080P Panasonic TV.
I've seen this mentioned in other forums as well by owners of current gen Onkyo and Pioneer 4K AV Receivers. The HDMI handshake on startup fails, and the AV Receiver reports and displays on the screen that the current resolution is not possible. I've tried setting the VTV to 720P, tried a variety of HDMI cables, and just can't get past this problem. The Onkyo's HDMI ports can't have their resolution changed etc. This has never been a problem with any of the other source components I've used, and only happens with the VTV. Software updates have been done etc.
Is there any fix or workaround, rather than bypassing the AV receiver and connecting direct to the TV, which does work, but is far from ideal? The problem does seem to relate to having a 1080P TV with a 4K capable AV Receiver in the middle.

Yes, and you wouldn't have, because you have a 4K TV at the end of the chain. This is only happening with a 1080P TV at the end.

This issue is because the STB is handshaking with the Onkyo, not the TV.
The Onkyo supports 4k Passthrough. So options would be:
The Onkyo is unable to downscale from 4k to 1080p, it can only pass it through. The STB is just doing what it is told by the Onkyo amp (ie: pass 4K) and the HD only capable TV is recieving that 4K signal and showing the current resolution is not possible.

The Onkyo supports 4k Passthrough. So options would be:
- Connect direct to the TV set
- If you want audio through the Onkyo, utilise ARC (Audio Return Channel) to send audio to the Onyko
- Update the TV to a 4K model.

Yes, that's exactly what my understanding was, and I've already been down your path above. If the STB could be properly locked at 1080P, this wouldn't happen, and maybe a firmware update would do this? The STB settings menu offers 720P or 1080P, but the box itself offers 4K to the Onkyo on bootup. I guess there's no fix in the pipeline?

Hi all. Been using the gen 2 box since December and really love it, but it has this damn niggling issues where it appears to struggle with the internet connection.
Will be watching a channel, perfectly fine, then change channel and it says “waiting for internet connection”
If you leave it for a couple of minutes it fixes itself, or flick into Netflix and then back and it seems to heal.
Internet here is fine, 2deg gigabit, unifi ap ac pro about 6m away in perfect view.
Anyone else come across this issue and have a fix? We never lose picture, it just seems to Crap itself when you change channels.
Cheers
