Hi all,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. Just wondering how everyone was finding this compared to Sky?

I pay for my parents Sky which includes sport package. Cost me $100+ a month.

I don't live with them so really only SkyGo is the only benefit I get from that but I don't find much interesting on there so don't really watch it.

Judging for some of the comments here, I think this might be a viable option for them.

Does it work out cheaper?

I've had a look at the VF website and find it a little annoying that you can't have sport on its own as this is really all my dad watches Sky for.

Cheers

Halfwayquiet: Is there any way to use an air mouse with Vodafone TV box? The ones that have a USB receiver. (or any other way) I find having to use the remote supplied frustrating...

No. But you can use the Vodafone TV app on a phone to push things to TV, or control the Youtube or Netflix using their respective phone apps (and the cast button)

It works out cheaper if you have MySky, because with Vodafone TV you can record things / catch up / rewind/ pause without paying $15 per month to hire a recorder. The box has extra apps like Netflix, YouTube and TVNZ too.. (One off cost $149-$179 for the box, or the non-wifi box included free with Vodafone broadband plans). Sky pricing is the same as Sky (but these days it's broken down into slightly smaller packages, of Starter, Sport, Movies and Entertainment.

You can get Sky Starter + Sport for $57.98 (cuts out some of the other channels, discovery etc..)

Pricing here: https://www.vodafone.co.nz/tv/vodafone-tv

One thing though is I think it can be a bit of a learning curve for those used to a simpler Sky box (with dedicated buttons like Guide on the remote) rather than having to go to the menu to open the guide.

If they record a lot of freeviw on the MySky, most programs cannot be recorded from freeview on Vodafone TV.

TVNZ channels, anything been on in last three days can be watched though, and some stuff on other channels.

Also recordings get automatically deleted, looks like maybe a month to two max, all my Sky movie recordings over Christmas have been deleted by the system now.

Being able to watch things been on in last three days without having to record them is nice though, Sky channels have more ability in the recording area and catch up 3 days for most things.

Just stuff to be aware of.

Thanks!

I find it really strange that they don't have a sports package with sky entertainment except when you buy the whole buddle at $104.41.

Yikes!

We're having trouble watching anything Freeview. Error SC402, something about being not connected to the internet, and channels are disappearing from the EPG and cannot be manually selected. Both our Vodafone TV units are affected. Internet is otherwise fine. Both units connected via ethernet.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

There is a P1 incident currently raised with an external vendor. It’s hoped this will be resolved soon.

So do I, given its not true. Starter, Entertainment and Sport is $83.48. Ignore the Voda website inference that Movies are also required in the bundle. You just add the package you want via the online portal.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Hi

Has anyone else had any issues when fast-forwarding through ads with Vodafone tv? We have a nightly issue when watching the 6pm News - when we try to fast-forward through the 2nd set of ads, the show will go back to where the first ads are (when we first used fast-forward). The show will then stop and we are unable to go forward to where we were before. The fix is then starting the show again and fast-forwarding to where we want to be. We normally start watching the show after 7pm.

Another option instead of restarting is when it reverts back to first ads, just use the +20 second button constantly instead. Not ideal, but it works.

Yes, same, but it seems to be on all channels, not just the news.  Gen1 box.
