"I agree prices need to come down A LOT, but we're no UK, US, or even Oz. They have to be ahead in something!"

What are we currently beating them at - apart from sheep numbers?! Tongue out

Where the market will not generate adequate competition, there should be effective regulation. Where you have both, as in UK for example, the customers REALLY benefit!

Primarily byrned, you're right on with the harsh truth. Why would the CEO seek to make radical pricing structure changes if things are coasting along nicely? People only stick their neck out if they have to. Only 2 things will save us: a third competitor or powerful legislation.

maccrazy: Paul, I have a question. I bought an iPhone on the 3rd of August. It came with dust in the screen, so I have returned it and they are sending it back to Apple to be looked at. What I want to know is: Can I sign up for the $40 per month plan when I get it back and get a refund for the difference in price between buying it outright and the $849 price on the $40 per month plan? I won't sign up for a plan unless I receive a subsidy.

Thanks. :)

I managed to get a response to my question:

Right, the answer is a big fat yes.

Take the handset into the store, explain the situation and they'll work through the process. You'll get airtime credit rather than cash, if only because the stores don't carry money. Then you're on account and away you go.
