My husband's HTC phone will not download updates to apps thru marketplace. This has been for about a week now. Turning it to airplane mode and even fully off and restart hasn't helped.

It could be a seperate issue but it started as being part of the whole loss off data connection, text, call issue. He's going to take it to a shop when he has time.

Is it only people with HSPA handsets seeing problems? Because my one isnt, and even on a VF sim it has been fine, but being that it has the worst mobile browser ever, it doesnt get a lot of use.

Perhaps, I know mine is playing up when it won't switch from 3g, to Hspa, if I try to use data and that is when I have to restart

If you can force your phone into 2G or GSM rather than WCDMA/UMTS/3G... Then that is pretty much a surefire way to solve the SMS/Call issue.. But data is going to be very slow :(

I think the OP has an E71 which IIRC, is not an HS(D)PA device

Just wanted to throw in my 2c and say that we're having EXACTLY the same problems here in Australia on the Vodafone network.

So my number ported to XT last nite at 5.45pm. I'm in Kaiapoi and work extensively in Christchurch and surrounds. Since last nite i've enjoyed waaay faster speeds on my iphone4 improved call clarity (a nice bonus) and no data and sms stalls.

Oh and loving the callertunes facility.

Didn't want to leave big red, but can't run a business when customers can't call ya cos your phone is having an enforced break.

cheers..

Well done!! I need some more money before I can break my iphone contract lol. I'm poor so I'm saving money now. You are lucky. But, to be honest, I haven't had data stall for 3 days! Maybe I'm a lucky one in Rangiora?? Lol. But I still no big hope for voda, unfortunately.

DomPost: Wellingtonian Steve Biddle said he had experienced problems receiving calls and texts three or four times a week since October and estimated he had missed about a dozen calls over a month.

You're famous Steve!!!

However I am a bit disappointed Tom didn't say "Steve Biddle blogged about this publicly on Geekzone which has led to this issue being investigated".

Just got to add a few things:

Stones and Glasshouses.

And "Join a network that works"

Lets hope that Telecom Marketing don't jump on this.  As it's just bad form.

Finally some acknowledgement! After being told for weeks it was my phone but not wanting to send it away to apple to get 'fixed'

Its a great reason to jailbreak tho - with SBS Settings you can turn 3G off then on again from any screen which solves the issue for at least an hour or 2

Very limited news coverage. why is this issue not being blown up like the XT problems?

This just hit me hard today. No calls or messages for an hour. Flight mode toggle and I get two voicemails and four SMS.

Central Auckland.

Have to agree, if this was XT the media would be all over it.
