To quote VodafoneDylan (17 December): "The team have work planned for mid January at this stage. I will post more info as it's confirmed."

Presumably capacity work.

Soon would be good.  smile

Yup. Looks like there's a new pole with some fresh cabling right outside the flat here. Should be interesting to see where things are at at the end of last week.

If it weren't for the stellar support that we got last time we contacted someone at Vodafone, I don't know where we'd be at right now.

Every time the connection's been solid for a short while, it winds up going downhill, often degrading to a point that's worse than it's historically ever been. Tonight is easily one of the worst nights I've ever had on this connection.

Who knows, maybe Island Bay will be the first place to get gigabit since we'll probably have the freshest wiring once the work is complete. ;)

They have been running through testing which has gone well so far. Plan at this stage is some changes for Wellington late next week. Will update as I know more.

It's not even near peak hour now and we're already seeing some congestion problems. The performance is also quite a bit worse than the speed test could otherwise lead you to believe.

Flatmate emailed someone at Vodafone again as well, just to further report some issues and have it on record. I'm curious if they'll reimburse further or not. I just hope it's sorted by the end of next week. >_<

What I mean is that it's not 9 pm, which is usually when the dip is at its absolute worst.

Historically biggest slow downs were always closer to 9pm and beyond.

It's pretty poor for me tonight.  Not many international sites loading.  I can't load the speedtest site either.

Vodafone did credit my account with $200 for my troubles but this is still sh * t.

Well... Just after dinner here. Tried loading The Atlantic and er... nope, not loading. Geekzone: not loading anything from Google or other resources. Same with Tweetdeck.

So I now switched to the Skinny mobile broadband test router for now....

so all that big deal about upgrading capacity was more like catching up on this issues not about making it better for people going forward?

whats it going to be like when you (vodafone) go to docsis 3?

Trying to watch a movie at home with my daughter on a Friday night and yet again, it's ruined by Vodafone. I know, upgrades are coming, but they've been saying that for months and I'm pretty fed up with it. There's no excuse at this point. On Monday I start looking for a new ISP.

Island Bay, 100/10 cable tested over ethernet:

Horrible frown

By far my worst night since the October upgrade.
Laggy and sloooow ...
Already below 50 Mbps by 7pm - I await 9pm with interest.
There is so much lag on my connection that speed tests are difficult.

Will update later tonight.

Netflix dying on it arse, can even get Speedtest to load on a web browser. Seems to be significant congestion or DNS issues

Things are dead. Very dead. Can't even connect to speed tests.

Miraculously, Rocket League is working well, but almost everything else is just dead in the water. I can't get Speedtest.net to load properly.

On the plus side, my friends get to make quite a few jokes at the expense of my Internet connection. At least that's amusing, I suppose... :P
