The most recent issue I have had with the T-Box is a new one. It became absolutely unresponsive to the remote, and the light on the front didn't flash when I pressed a button. However the T-Box continued to play video (albeit stuck on one channel) and continued to record its scheduled programs. I left it overnight because I was recording something and didn't want to reboot right then, and it was still stuck like that the next day.

As an interesting observation on the subject of the T-Box remote, we have this issue fairly regularly (non response to the remote) and put it down to the remote rather than the Box, our "fix" is similar to banging an old B/W TV we take off the battery cover and reseat the batteries and roll them in their housing a few times. It seems to work.

Anyone watch TV3 news on Tuesday?. Several Advertisements last night had very bad pixelation. No trouble on other channels. I am not that concerned about the Advertisements but am wondering if my T-Box is still playing up. Perhaps just a transmission fault?.

Blast, same exact thing happened again.
After watching a recorded program, switching back to live TV the T-Box goes blank. Eventually I have power cycle, then after a awhile it comes to life and starts "UPDATING" intermingled with "PLEASE WAIT..." msgs. After msgs went away, everything except sound had returned. One more bounce and sound finally returns.

Have you tried power cycling your TV when that happens? Since power cycling my amp seems to fix my HDMI sound problems, it occurred to me that doing the same with your TV might also work.

I suspect it's simply the T-Box firmware not handling a specific scenario properly.
It's not the HDCP hand shake issue I've experienced earlier. Not saying you had that issue yourself, but, I suspect under specific situations (i.e. load) the T-Box isn't quick enough to disable it's own authentication timer.

Well there was me thinking all (well most) of the TBox issues were all solved and life was good.

Last night the TBox seemed to hang during playback of a couple of programs. Not a full hang but responsiveness went out of the window as if the CPU was running @ 100% and not giving much time to respond to key presses etc.

So after a couple reboots I thought that I'd let it run through its system checks. Left it overnight and this afternoon came back to a Tbox frozen on a frame of live tv.

Another reboot and system check. System check ran for about 5 hours and then it froze itself on a frame of live tv.

Skipping the system check now just results in a black screen.

So I think my TBox has died - my theory is that disk space was running low and its almost like theres no space reserved for live tv and so its trying to buffer the live tv but failing and can't handle it....

Guess its time to phone up the call centre and then wait days for an engineer to come out, replace my box, and lose all the recordings I had sitting waiting to watch

I thought I'd share the strange (or not so strange perhaps) tale of my TBox carrying on from my previous reply...

The tech was due in today to replace my TBox so I thought I'd give it one last reboot last night (after it had been frozen at the same screen for about 24 hours).

Skipped the system check and it went straight to black screen and stopped there so I thought that it was still stuffed....

...I was wrong!

About 5 minutes later a scheduled recording kicked off (red light came on) and suddenly the screen jumped to life albeit VERY choppy (think 2 seconds of movement followed by 10 seconds of freezing). I thought I'd try and follow my previous theory that it was disk space related so hit planner to try and delete some stuff.

Nothing happened for about 30 seconds but then the planner popped up and about 20 seconds later the usual Please Wait / Updating message appeared and proceeded to do its thing (all the time the live tv was doing its 10 second freeze thing).

Got sick of waiting so went to do something else and came back 1 hour later to find that the TBox was now functioning back at normal speed and everything was working again!

I noticed that the disk space was back up to 9% (although even though nothing was recording it dropped down to 8% a few minutes later) and, as the problems I was having were when the disk space was about 3% free, this seems to point more and more at this being a disk space issue.

Would be interested to know if anyone has had similar issues and if so has your disk space been down in the lower single digits.

Long story short I cancelled the tech visit this morning (as all they are going to do is presumably replace the TBox and make me lose my recordings) - probably means it will go wrong again tonight

I've been no lower than 4% free space. I didn't have (too many) problems other than needing to reboot every couple of weeks as the system gets really slow to respond (fast forwward screen stays on for up to 30 seconds, getting longer the longer the Tbox is up), and the typical HDMI issues with my HDMI switch which means I have to reboot with the Tbox plugged directly into my TV. I can usually use my HDMI switch after this reboot without too many issues.

I've managed to run out of space on my T-Box - and no problems ensuing from that. It seemed to run normally. I didn't test the "live pause" thing, so I don't know how it was coping with buffering.

My T-box is all Vodafoned up, wonder if they will do a better job of managing the thing. I think it looks better, to be honest. Wonder if we should call it the V-box from now on?

v.box is already registered years ago via Vodafone so they might rename it as the V.box rather than the T-Box which Telstra have it registered via.

I find the new colours very very RED!! Strong enough to just about knock my eyeballs out!!LOL

Got the update this evening, when I rebooted the T-box to see if the lag on getting the banner off would be shortened. And it was

My box also got updated.

If Vodafone reads this, I want to report an observation. I use to have to reboot once a week due to box freeze. Couple of months ago an update came through which fixed it. Lasts now 4 - 5 weeks. Though when it gets to the 4th week, the... box... slows... down. Changing channel takes 20-30 seconds at times etc.

Hopefully Vodafone can do some magic on this box!

We also seem to be rebooting less now but whether it is due to updating of the software or coincidence I wouldn't know. We have had the excessive time to change channels but a reboot has usually fixed this.
We still get picture freeze and tearing at times.
