I've put in an order with MyRepublic for UFB fibre. If all is well, my complaining here will cease in just a few weeks. :)

There is an old saying in old Hutt Valley..... friends don't let friends select MyRepublic

I have heard goood things about MR lately....assuming their issues last year were where their marketing got ahead of their capacity. My friends also say they have a lower ping to overseas game servers.

No ISP can be worse than VF and thats my learned opinion.

Yeah, I've been watching MyRepublic's improvement over the past year or so and they've consistently been in a good spot for some time now. They greatly improved their capacity and haven't struggled with any of these prolonged congestion issues that have been plaguing Vodafone customers such as myself. My friends on MyRepublic have been singing praises about their service for a while, and all of the real-world tests I've asked them to run have greatly exceeded my expectations.

There's also a decent referral credit, so a couple of my friends on a shared account are getting a nice little kickback. :P

I hope all goes smoothly. Please let us know how it goes and what the performance of their service is like. I am considering my options right now with the ongoing issues with FibreX

I need to chime in on Vodafone FibreX also. I'm in Woodridge/Newlands, Wellington Gigabit connection and have been getting 5min drop outs over the last 48 hours. Over the last few weeks Steam downloads are going very slow, often in the KB/s and if I'm lucky maxing out at around 24 MB/s. Use to get a stable 40MB/s to at best 75MB/s and few weeks back. I had a friend on ADSL download Payday 2 quicker than me and I started the download before him! it looks like throttling as it often starts strong then dives down. Right now I am downloading Killing Floor 2 at 478 KB/s and it keeps stopping all together. When I pause the download and restart it starts at 2MB/s then drops to KB/s. I download a lot and pay for the higher speeds, I was happy with them in the past (but have had issues often) but right now I'm not happy at all. If REAL fibre were here I would be gone.

EDIT - Worth noting Uplay is at 45MB/s and Origin at 33MB/s. Digital Foundry Patreon 600KB/s Tests done around 7pm while the wife is watching 1080p Netflix. Tested each platform individually.

The connection is awful tonight. :\

Quite looking forward to cancelling. Hoping I can wiggle my way out of the disconnect fee as well since we're frequently getting sub-VDSL speeds.

EDIT
Looks like it had a brief spike while I was off doing other things. Still cannot believe how poorly things are performing tonight.

You sure it's not just the Steam servers being hammered?

The summer sales just started and I know many people who have just finished their exams.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

It's not just Steam that's slow.

What I'd give for some VDSL about now.

The reason I say that is because I get the exact same results on Spark VDSL as I do on FibreX

I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Steam servers that can't cope. There are still other things that are unfortunately underperforming as well, though.

I'll have to see what if I'm able to have some of my friends report their download speeds on Steam tonight. There's certainly a large possibility that Vodafone isn't to blame at all there.

Ergh, two downloads failed, and now I'm trying to download some music from TheFatRat and the speeds there are awful as well. What a frustrating night!!

Yes, I don't have to pay for the VDSL.

So you work for Vodafone? Or I should have said Spark?

Haha, I work for neither of them unfortunately. The Spark VDSL is provided by the job of someone else in the house.
