Jase2985:

but then why is there no details of work going on in Wellington?? its obvious from the extent of this thread there has been a huge lack of resources or what looks like urgency to fix all the issues going on here.

Do you have Vodafone cable in Island Bay? whats that got to do with anything?

There could be many reasons why work isn't going on in Wellington, we have no reason to believe work being performed in Christchurch is that reason. You could be right, but at the moment you're joining dots that aren't there to be joined.

The reason I asked if you have Island Bay cable customer is because this thread attracts more than its fair share of rubberneckers, who seem to come here just to stir things up. It's a pretty safe bet from your reply that you are not. Are you a Vodafone cable customer at all? Or for that matter, a Vodafone internet customer?

again what does it matter who i have as an ISP, where on this forum does it say i cant participate in this thread?

where is the commnication about what is happening in the most affected areas in Wellington?

Vodafones handling of this matter has been atrocious at best, and now they are busy spouting on about 1gbps connections when they cant even get the 100mbps ones they have working properly.

for one of NZ's largest ISP's they have done a piss poor job of making things right, fixing the issues, communicating and keeping people informed.

i know most people dont have much of a choice if they want fast internet, but i think some of that has been exploited by vodafone and the lack of complaints by customers has really given them no incentive to fix this in a timely manner, remember this was suppose to be fixed in October which in its self was many many months after it started.

@Jase2985 A quick check of this thread shows that not only do you not have cable, but you haven't had cable at any point through these issues. I also see you drop in from time to time to criticize people for not going to the commerce commission, or taking whatever other action you seem to think is necessary. It's not about whether you're allowed to participate, it's about the fact you seem to come here to stir an issue which has absolutely nothing to do with you.

If you have something of value to add, by all means do. But if you're here to speculate and wind people up again, do us all a favor and leave.

As @freitasm said to you back in October: "If one doesn't have cable then adding nothing of value to a conversation is not the way to go..."

And again. If you are in this thread to criticism only and not affected the you aren't helping.

Let's keep this focused on the problem and feedback on the work, not on how the company should have handled it or not.

You are free to create a new thread just for that.

Kodiack:... It's also been a week since Vodafone has said anything here. Could someone at least throw us a bone?

The work in Christchurch yesterday was very successful. I should have some more news very soon. Appreciate your patience.

Island Bay cable 100/10

"Just the facts Ma'am"  (Dragnet parody, Stan Freberg, 1953)

TrueNet stats - my own downstream speeds from the TrueNet Wellington server, averaged hourly over 7 days:

The last week in December - no dip!

The first week in February:

Remember that these are averaged figures - some nights are (much) worse than this, some better.

EDIT:  My averaged 9pm speed is now 34Mbps on a 100Mbps connection.

G'morning

We have some node cutovers planned for today. Details on affected nodes/areas that will most definitely receive a short interruption to service are listed on Vodafone Community here http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/Cable-broadband-upgrades-in-Wellington-region/m-p/197165#M1038

No, not Island Bay specifically at the moment, but I understand this may help as other stuff is shuffled around.

Cheers

Dylan

Did the scheduled work go okay? Still hoping that Island Bay is on the radar soon. We're still feeling some nasty congestion here. Not even 6 pm yet. :(

Island Bay cable 100/10 tested via ethernet at 8:30pm

The bad news: the evening dip was as bad as ever  undecided

The good news: the dip recovered faster than usual - speed rose to 59/10 Mbps by 9pm  wink

Island Bay cable 50/2 tested via ethernet at 9:23pm

Down speed is just under half our normal capacity.

I have just received an email from Vodafone asking to fill an "exit" survey. No regrets - just got a HP Envy 34" PC for review and I am downloading two Steam games at the same time:

I am out of this thread now - seriously.

Just before you go - did they do anything to try and convince you to stay? Yes, I know your mind was made up - but did they try?

No, there was no try. The agent asked me if I had already decided on another ISP and I said fibre was already connected and working. I guess she realised there's no return if another ISP is connected. Modem was collected yesterday.
