WKH Island Bay (our system refers to it as Berhampore) is definitely on the way. Plan is to complete this work in the next 1-2 weeks. There may be some small delays like happened yesterday morning, we needed to wait for some repair work to be completed before the WKM Miramar work could proceed. The team also need to keep in mind the over customer experience and wait times as well. Wait times have been very low recently, but if the customer service team are already busy it's probably not a good time to intentionally cause an interruption to a couple of thousand customers ;)

I can't say too much more at the moment, but like John mentioned there's heaps happening, and I'm confident that you'll see a result similar to BigMal.

If you would like to know if your node is in line for a capacity upgrade as part of this work please send me a private message with your node if you know it or your customer number and I'll check with the team.

2 weeks is today

been no comments about future work for over a week

Fair point, you're right. Sorry for lack of info from our side after I set that expectation with you all.

I've been in touch with the project manager this morning. As you've noticed we have some competing priorities which has affected the availability of team members to work on these upgrades. The same engineers also work on network faults and unfortunately there have been a couple keeping them occupied. These capacity upgrades and changes are still a very high priority with our networks team, and if all goes well, we'll have some more progress soon. This is frustrating for the project team and the engineers as well, hopefully won’t be too much longer.

It's pretty average here tonight. Thankfully it's nowhere near as bad as it was last night. That was just a horrible time all around.

Two nodes underway now - W47 in Lower Hutt and W22 in Burma/Johnsonville. http://community.vodafone.co.nz/t5/Network-status/Cable-broadband-upgrades-in-Wellington-region/m-p/198671#M1086

Edit - those two are completed now.

Were there any other cutovers? I was just randomly disconnected from Freenode, Battle.net, and several other services. Oddly, I was able to continue browsing the Internet normally during those couple of minutes. :\

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Until yesterday I had believed that I was the only TrueNet "cable" volunteer in Island Bay.
John Butt has advised me that there is a second volunteer in Island Bay who is getting significantly better TrueNet results results than I am. (less peak congestion)

This may be because we are on different nodes.

Could he or she PM me so that we can compare notes?

I'm on Berhampore node WKH.

The connection's performance is disgusting tonight. Seeing occasional latency fluctuations and just hating this connection in general.

Seriously, why is it taking so long to get Island Bay fixed? Nodes are being upgraded with relatively high frequency, yet we're not seeing anything here. The problems have been the worst here for the longest amount of time, yet it feels like we're near the lowest priority for getting fixed.

I know, I know - that may not be the truth. There are likely other factors at play. But this is just frustrating and absurd. Every single weekend. I've been personally affected by this congestion for over a year now!

Through TDR, we reached an agreement to not need to make any payments until this is resolved. Hopefully that's some motivation for Vodafone to get this sorted sooner rather than later. Funnily enough, even with the great price of free, it still sometimes feels like we're paying too much for this. >_>

I just really wish that I could rely on this connection to meet my needs every night. If it performed as advertised, that wouldn't be a problem. But it doesn't.

It's really disappointing to me when I hear my friends having fun in games, but I'm having to fight with my connection until everyone else in the neighborhood finally goes off to sleep.

I can only complain so much. I want to maintain an objective stance and just provide hard numbers, but those numbers alone don't even come close to explaining the frustration that I've had to deal with several times every week for months on end.
