I hard reset my Vodafone TV tonight, so that I could link it to my account. Now when I boot it up, it detects the network connection, then when activating (which is the second step in setup) pops up with this error:

"There's a problem. Your Vodafone TV needs to be reset. Please go to www.vtv.nz/reset for instructions."

I've tried reseting it a few times following those instructions, and it just comes up with the same error. I've tried both available options in the first step of connecting over ethernet and WiFi, but with the same result. Any ideas?

Reset can be tricky sometimes.

If you put the power plug back in first, then push and hold the reset button once the power is back in.

Wait for the second VF screen to appear then release the reset button.

See if that is of any help?

Some kudos for Vodafone ... started setting up a second Vodafone TV device and got the on-screen message "there's a problem.  We didn't configure your VodafoneTV before it was delivered".

Called the stated telephone number, young lady pulled up my information and immediately identified the problem, but needed a colleague to assist with the remedy.  After confirming Serial Number, got a call back in about 4 minutes to say the device was now Activated, and to try it whilst still on the line .... fired up straight away.

As for the reason for problem it was because I'd had the device sent to me directly and not delivered by a technician, which is the usual process when they give a new customer/contract the Vodafone TV ... the tech usually installs then calls to get it registered and activated.

All in all, very satisfied with prompt and easy fix 😊

When is Vodafone TV going to support 5.1 Surround Sound? I have just purchased a Google Chromecast (4th Generation) with Google TV and the sound difference is remarkable compared to the Stereo setting on Vodafone TV, when viewing Netflix. Also when is Dolby sound going to be supported again on Vodafone TV without causing loss of sound occasionally which has necessitated using Stereo only?

I have a Sony Bravia TV with a Home Theater system.

I was under the impression it did support Surround Sound, isn't there an option for it in Audio settings? I was using mine originally with a 2009 Sony Bravia hooked up via Optical Out to a Sony Blu-ray/Home Theatre system all in one thing and definitely heard sound from the rear speakers (VTV has been demoted to my bedroom TV for other reasons right now so don't know if it's still like this)

It definitely supports Surround Sound on the Dolby Digital setting when viewing Netflix but I think the problem is I can't use that setting generally because it causes the Freeview channels to lose sound intermittently when using HDMI ARC.

The problem with loss of sound when viewing a Freeview channel, with Dolby Digital set, occurs after a rewinding in 1 out of 4 cases.

Every channel on Vodafone TV is currently frozen (11:33am Monday 19 April)

Some channels have a Vodafone unavailable message on them

One of ours was doing something similar yesterday (I think). Power off (as in unplug power), power on, all fine.

Just went inside and tried now. Same issue described above, and worse than what happened yesterday.

Could a feature please be considered that is similar to Apple TV's "match content" so 4K can be in SDR and upped to HDR if the content being displayed supports it instead of upscaling everything?

After a year if literally trouble free usage of the VodaTV device, the last 3 or 4 nights has been damn awful.

The problem appears only for TVNZ OnDemand using the built-in app, and manifests itself by the streaming stopping after the advertisement breaks.

Sometimes I get the "Cannot connect to file ..." type message, other times there are other messages, but in all instances adverts either repeat several times, or it jumps back to the programs episodes list, or even goes right back to the episode beginning.  Pressing OK on any of these options usually starts yet another set of loops AFTER yet another set of adverts playing!

I once went through about 8 of these loops before the episode resumed correctly.

It looks like the people and/or system that inserts adverts at various places isn't too hot and doesn't know how to resume the episode.

Anyone else getting this?
