mercutio: but even with adsl on peak issues have seen even with multiple connections, cable used to be fine for getting full speed on 15 megabit with multiple connections. is it going to stay the same with 100 megabit?
I managed to get full speed when downloading torrents from vodo.net - about 25 torrents and the 100 Mbps were all used up. Obviously burstable.
As for browsing, yes it's a big difference from downloading single threads. Browsers will try and download from multiple sources at the same time, and in some cases even pipeline http connections (using SPDY for example).
The whole speed test thing is a myth. Tests show one thing, real life use is different.
