Is The Warehouse still selling these new Vodafone TV boxes? I cannot find it at all on their website.

The Warehouse has now put it up on their website :

Is it possible to swap out the Gen1 for Gen2 units? When I signed up I was expecting to get the latest version.

@Hamish, are you able to answer this question? I've been searching for weeks now to try and find out. Thanks!

Always on the lookout for boxes that reduce the total number I need and are convenient and don’t require significant configuration. Unfortunately the lack of connection to a NAS is a stopper for me.

Is it possible to have the ThreeNow app updated to include channel livestreams? example being The Edge TV is streaming only

Thanks for the suggestion.  We'll ask Mediaworks the best way to get the The Edge onto VTV and see what we can do.

You could use their webstream which is easily of broadcastable standard, feed it into your service and put it out as a Channel as it was previously.

https://livestreamdirect-edgetv.mediaworks.nz/edgetv.m3u8

is the direct stream url for players

Did anyone else with VTV get an email today offering 4 months free lightbox? Thought it was strange being a Spark product and not Neon like I have had offered for free before.

While in theory is totally a great option, suspect they will have to licence it still.

I saw a pile of them at the door of the warehouse today, along side the other small dongle thing. Not really information on what it was tho.

JP just cant help but sell the services he likes ;)

old habits die hard eh?

Truth be told, many providers that are competitors, do wholesale off other providers.

Always good for providers to be mature enough to recognize it's mutually beneficial.

I have followed this thread with great interest and would be grateful for a couple of points of clarification:

1. I understand that VTV streams FTA TV (TVNZ, Three, etc) simply and directly - whereas the Dish Freeview A2 machine streams a Freeview version of those. Is that correct and, if so, what are the practical and effective differences between these two approaches IRL?

2. You can subscribe to Sky via VTV and need to have Basic before adding Movies or Sport packages etc - in the normal way - but can you add Sky Sport Now i.e. without needing Basic?

Apologies if these have already been specifically addressed.

Can SSN be subscribed for on VTV?

Hi, sorry I missed this one.

Currently we only provide use of a Gen1 VTV at no cost with our broadband plans, and ownership of that box remains with Vodafone.  The Gen2 box is sold at $179 and the customer owns this box.  However, we are working on options around Gen1 vs Gen2 and how to swap between these units, perhaps even allowing all Gen1 users to convert to the new standalone method of self-service etc.  In the meantime, if you DM me your account details I can look at your specific situation.

Hamish
