Can I confirm the following with you guys then (for the benefit of someone who just returned...)

#1:  Us torrent users are now "pooled"...
#2:  Torrent users = Don't bother to surf at all between 12am-2am...  It's un-usable

#3:  If I switch over to the Pay/Gb plan, it will be better, meaning at least I can facebook during the hours of 12am-2am???

#4:  This is a phenomenon with ALL Xnet torrent users, meaning I'm not just in a "unlucky" gepgraphic location.....

Thanks!

jesseycy: Can I confirm the following with you guys then (for the benefit of someone who just returned...)

#1:  Us torrent users are now "pooled"... - Unsure but some say they r

#2:  Torrent users = Don't bother to surf at all between 12am-2am...  It's un-usable -
try 11pm to 9am
at first i was wondering why hotmail won't even load and everything was ridiculously slow - i thought my PC was hit by a virus or something and was gonna do a full install - thank god i googled Xnet slow and lots of forums came up

#3:  If I switch over to the Pay/Gb plan, it will be better, meaning at least I can facebook during the hours of 12am-2am???
i switched over a couple of days ago
funny story that - i asked the 1st guy if he knew why there was a problem and he said everything was fine then i mentioned the forums and he said that he didn't read the forums okkkk well his service was terrible and i had to call back again after a couple of days this time the guy was nicer and i asked if he had any other customers that complained - he said no but some of the other guys have had a couple of complains but he did acknowledge the feedback from the forums
anyway sorry  - errrr speed is still s**t even going back to pay per Mb
am gonna go to xtra sad i know but i use them at my work and their speeds are amazingly good - have supported xnet for ages and if given a choice would prefer to stay with them but to get something worse than dial up well ... there's only so much 1 can take

#4:  This is a phenomenon with ALL Xnet torrent users, meaning I'm not just in a "unlucky" gepgraphic location.....
if u consider all of the Xnet customers that live in NZ than YES - u  live in a unlucky location

btw emailed the helpdesk yesterday morning saying pls give me a reply on what's going on if not then i'm gonna go nothing back from them yet so i guess xnet now has too many new customers to worry about the existing ones

Thanks!

#1
I would be guessing that is what Xnet have done to torrent users.

#2
I couldnt surf at all after 12 or download anything from HTTP, and torrents only went 100k max. So yeah pretty much unusable.

#3
I switched to pay per meg and ALL my problems went away, speeds are fine 24/7 for everything including torrents.

#4
I have read many many posts on this forum and other NZ forums of ALOT of poeple having issues, this includes 3 of my friends who are all on Xnet. It is definatly not a geographic problem. The problem will be steming from whatever is happening in #1.

It certainly feels like it (I've had to switch back to the pay per MB plan and things are much better, though still crap compared to the best I've experienced in the past).

#2:  Torrent users = Don't bother to surf at all between 12am-2am...  It's un-usable

2am? No, more like 8pm - 8am IME.

#3:  If I switch over to the Pay/Gb plan, it will be better, meaning at least I can facebook during the hours of 12am-2am???

It worked out for me, however it's a hell of an expensive option if you're a heavy downloader like me - by most people's standards that is. I'm hardly a hardcore downloader (I'm not running P2P 24/7 for example, and I limit my connections and bandwidth usage. I think most people have no idea what the word 'limits' mean).

It would seem so, yeah.

I can also vouch for the fact that speeds are OK on the pay per meg plan. Got a peak of 500 kiloBYTES/sec yesterday on 3 combined torrents for 2 hours (consistently about 350). Having said that, youtube streaming is still a bit of a pain - so there may still be some gateway issues there.

I joined as a Naked DSL customer just under a month ago.

I opted for the pay as you go option, and still get only about 250 Kilobytes/sec from the States after 8PM on the speedtest.net test site. In the mornings I typically get 4 Megabits/sec from the USA, and 6 Mbp/s locally, so that's a huge difference! I just called them up and was advised that I was not in any pool. They have apparently placed me in the correct pool now, and tell me that this ought to resolve the issue. Will poet back with an update as soon as I've put it to the test.

Whoops

You ONLY get 250 Kilobytes/sec from the US after 8pm?

But you get 4 megabits/sec in the morning?

I'd advise you to convert those two measurements to the same units and then see if you want to complain!

Just found why going back to pay per mb is not as fast for me...becaues they have not changed me back yet that's why! this was after being told TWICE by 2 different helpdesk guys that i was being changed back to pay per mb last week - this would make it the third - so my earlier comments re pay per mb was not accurate soreeeeeeeeeeeee

Haha, sorry for the confusion.

The first one should have stated 250 kiloBITS (not bytes). My bad.

Anyway to update: Using Speedest.net I now get over 2 Megabits from New York and over 4 from San Fransisco. About 1 Megabit from Perth and 1.9 from Sydney.

That's a significant improvement on what I was getting, so they have made some changes for the better.

Was at the neighbours house last night and ran a Speedtest to LA. He was getting speeds of 3300+kb. This was around 8pm. When I tried it at home, I got a speed of 215kb.

I'm on Xnet Torrent plan, the neighbour is on Xtra.

Because of the speed issues, I'm now trying to download before 8pm and my monthly bill has gone up by about $15 in the last month, and I'm not exactly downloading much.

Looks like I will be checking out their other plans or even switch ISPs.
