This sounds like the exact same issue i was having. The IMEI TAC was only added on the 26th March, in the mean time, my SIM had forbidden flagged 53013 PLMN due to repeated failed connection attempts. That needed an OTA update to remove the flag from the SIM. After getting the phone 6th of March to only just getting a connection easter weekend is pretty poor.

Also her account of been told she wasn't out of coverage enough etc etc. is exactly the same. It was one hell of a battle for over 3 weeks trying to get answers. The service specialist I was dealing with was great with communication but was also struggling to get info.

One thing I can confirm is the Satellite access config json file is NOT required for OneNZ connection. (As per my previous post)

I'm glad I decided to test mine before blindly committing to a full off grid hike. 😂

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Did you get a message on your phone saying that your carrier was updating your settings?

Did you get a message on your phone saying that your carrier was updating your settings?

I'm not sure, there was a notification that I swiped away, and as I swiped it away I thought ohhh hang on what was that? Could have been that. What would it look like?

It looked like this. While this was on Spark, I imagine it might be similar to what you saw. Oddly, it didn't happen on my partners phone but did happen on a friends. It was roughly the same day as the satellite announcement and I've never seen it happen before or after.
