I'm with the OP on this. I rang VF to see what was on offer as my last 12 month deal expired and they started charging me an extra $30/month - which incidentally is nothing close to the current plans - anyway that's another topic.

So all they would give is what is on the Vodafone page - no deals to offer. By the sounds of it there are plans coming (I won't hold my breath), but if I switch to the current 60GB plan and a new plan comes out, can I switch to get the new deal or am I stuck on the $85.90/month for the full 12 months?

I did have a look at going VDSL but for some reason my address cannot be found by either Telecom or Snap, they want me to sign up before they can confirm what I get so I may be stuck with an ADSL - that sounds a bit crazy to me - again that's another topic! I'm 1-2 years from UFB according to the chorus site - so do I take the risk and switch ISP and end up with ADSL or wait it out.

Anyway back to VF!

If you were advertising the cable service as being equivalent to UFB then I would like a deal similar to what Snap offer on their UFB which is 100GB for $75 - even their VDSL is $95 for 100GB - that's $20/month less for VDSL and $40/month less for UFB - that's a big difference.

You can only rely on customer laziness to prevent churn for so long. So come on VF, you've been fully in charge of the old TCL for most of the year now - time to make your mark and put your money where your mouth is.

Aren't they exactly what makes a good broadband experience?

Look I don't know what other way I can put this but Staff in the know that work on up coming changes / projects just can't jump on a public forum and speak about them if someone says I am changing provider if you don't tell me what the business future plans are,

I once jumped on twitter & Facebook with INFO that was highly confidential and I 100% thought it was public INFO, I almost got my marching orders to go find another job, I can tell you now It's not pleasant been in that situation,

All staff have a employment contract and we are bound by this contract with Vodafone NZ like others that works for a business of this nature,

Please understand until official coms comes out we can't comment

Thanks John, Nobody wants any of you to put your jobs on the line - that would be very selfish. What I'm asking is to pass the message up the chain that unless the new plans are competitive with what else is out there then VF should expect churn - but I'm sure they probably know that.

It's a great service, reliable, stable and fast (even standard speed cable) but when push comes to shove $$$ tend to win. I'll probably stay with VF but only because I'm lazy.

Regarding my question about lock-in, if I go to the 60GB or 100GB plan and VF change their plans in the next couple of months, will I be allowed to change my plan without paying a penalty clause?

I thought as an existing customer not under contract, you can change plans as you like? You don't have to re-sign for another 12 month contract do you?

That's what the did last time when they gave me "a deal" and I made the presumption that that's the case when my latest bill came in at $114.34 ($42.99 for phone and $65.94 for 40GB BB +extras) - not even close to the $75.90 that's currently on offer!

The CSR graciously knocked off $30 for this month while I get sorted - hence my look around at what else is on offer.

I guess I'll give them another call later to confirm.

wow i did not think this thread would end up like this when I asked a pretty simple question. Anyway its good to know that there are Vodafone people on here listening and hopefully there will be a cap increase in the coming months as I really like the service/speed. Fibre and VDSL are not an option for me currently or within the next 5 years in Christchurch.

If you're looking to save money why not switch to 60G naked cable ($55.95/month) plus VoIP ($11.50/month), or one of the plans with more data?

That's not cable, only adsl.

I don't have any details at this stage, but I can assure you the cable plans will not be neglected - they are under review.

If you're looking to save money why not switch to 60G naked cable ($55.95/month) plus VoIP ($11.50/month), or one of the plans with more data?

I've looked at this a couple of times, but the wife likes the idea of having a phone line that will work in a power cut - especially after the recent earthquakes.
