Would be good to see something for the SmartData 3G plans as well, considering my old IPhone plan was watered down from 3GB to 1GB. I'd move to the VF red plan but they are priced too high.

coffeebaron:
mercutio: has the cell site in west auckland with 1 megabit download, 100kbit going to get upgraded with older equipment from the 4g going into the city/remuera etc?  (exhibition drive)

well there's probably more than one of them like that.  but it seems silly to have 150megabit internet on phones when calling is dodgy and internet is 1000kbit/100kbit in other areas.

This was upgraded months ago to U900/U2100 dual carrier, fibre feed. Most likely it has already got LTE ready hardware too.

ahh ok, maybe i can try it again now.  i had to use 2degrees, as calling was flakey even.  dual carrier is the 42 megabit one?

I'm on Smart Data $80, with arranged extra 1GB on top of the included 1GB.

What will the increased data allowance be? BTW, I can't seem to find the Smart Data $80 plan details on the Vodafone website now... everything is Red, and even the retired plans isn't listing the Smart Data $80 that I signed up (for 24 months) roughly 3/4 months ago.

johnr: And you don't need a new SIM card (runs and hides under desk)

How come you guys don't need a new SIM card, but Telecom do?

I guess Vodafone is giving the free 4G upgrade because of Telecom's free 4G?

They have different HLRs between 3G / 4G we have a single HLR that covers 2G/3G/4G

Telecom will move to a single HLR in the future

Someone mentioned that Telecom provisioned an HLR range on SIMs specifically for 4G.
Not sure why...

Chiefie. Is this your plan? Can't see $80...

I'm still on the old Smart 1 3GB plan for $41 a month. If they open 4G to all plans and prepay then I would have upgraded my 4s to a 5s.

That plan is now grandfathered and won't gain access to the 4G network

(this is meant in jest, and in the spirit of said Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch).

I wish to lay a complaint.

I wish to complain about this ere account that I have purchased not 24 months ago from this very outfit.

The title of this thread, which I read ere not 5 minutes ago, quite clearly says "Vodafone 4G free to all on account".

Now I do believe my account which I have, is not "free 4G" at this very moment (although it is technically "4G free" of ) and not likely to be getting it, on the principle that it is currently 3G (three being the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three, four... oh well).

On the principal, that the title of the thread says 4G free, can one assume that my 3G SmartData plan will have 4G access for an amount pertaining to something similar to no additional charge at some stage soon?

What about business users, is 4G available across all business plans or is it a extra cost?

I'm 18 months into my 24m smart $120 plan.

My Oct-Nov bill now lists 4g upgrade under services but no charged anything. But my data limit hasn't been raised from 2Gb , see what happens next bill.
